I found a guy selling a crx for $2500 butI can get him down to 2. The car was red but was painted black, he did the door jams and engine bay but the body looks like it was spray painted black. It has a few dings here and there. A rusted sun roof. The front bumper would need to be replaced, its ricey and cracked. The interior is really clean. It has a b16 swap out of a 99 civic si. w/ ys1 tranny. The only thing is it sounds like the valves are loose. He said he had the car in for work on the motor, I cant see why he wouldnt have gotten the valves fixed if it was just them being loose. And there was sludge in the oil. It also has no exhaust so I can't really tell if it sounds good. What do you guys think?

i have seen b16 swapped rexes go for 2 to 3k without mechanical problems, however those were great deals. this one is just a good price but i wouldnt call it a steal. hows the body other than the rusted sunroof?
look into a new head or maybe a valve kit or tell him/ her that it sounds real interesting and would like to look under the valve cover if possible.... only then you will be able to see if he gets freaky talk him down another so so amount for the new head or valve kit
if it is truly a b16a3/2 (Or whatever newer year code it is
) out of the 99 si then it would defenetly be worth it,
If its just and old first gen b16a then i dono... you should compression test it at least if it comes up decent I would spring for it possibly...

No I dont have pics. I talked to a friend and told him all about it and he said that it was only worth about 1500. I would be so much more inclined to buy it if that engine didn't make that noise. I just don't get why he would get them fixed if he had it in for work and it was something simple.
I bet if you ran a few cleaners in the B16 it would clean up/quiet up a bit. The valves probably just need adjustment. What's the stamp on the engine? If it's B16A (B16A4 for the 99 Si) then your LMA might need replacement. They sound like the engine is falling apart.

Damn! Everyone of my friends are telling me it isnt such a great deal. Considering the bumper needing replaced a sunroof, exhaust valves adjusted and motor sudge. How much would it be just for that motor?
It sounds like an alright deal to me. take the car to someone who knows hondas and have them inspect it.
If all your honda friends say its not worth it, it probably isnt. Even with a swap, it may take a good bit more money to make it into what you want it to be. Engine rebuilds are not that inexpensive either.
Post some pics and we can give you a better opinion
