General Questions about CBR F4is...
Hey guys,
I used to have a 96 F3. I am looking to get a 2001+ F4i. I was just wondering what is a good price to look for with good miles. What kind of miles do you generally get out of a F4i before it really starts giving you problems. I really want an orange or yellow one. Thanks for the input.

average price is about 4000-5000 depending on year and miles.
i paid 4200 for my 01 f4i with 24k miles on it. got 26k on it now and it runs perfect. its a honda so if you treat it well i wouldnt be suprised if you could get 100k from it.

I sold my 03 with 6k miles for $5,200.
I got it last year with 1,500 miles for $5,800.
So don't expect to find them with low miles for $4k.</TD></TR></TABLE>
They do make orange ones too by the way. Orange and Black. They made them in 99 and I think 2001. Ive seen them for sale on ebay and cycletrader.com

that's a red F4i for sure. There never was an orange F4i.
I bought my 03 F4i with some mods done to it for $6300 last summer and sold it this spring for 5800 with more mods and only 11k miles.
If you stay in the 01-03 range you'll get a split seat design and shouldn't have to pay more than $6k if you play your cards right.

I paid 4700 for my 2003 F4i with 11K miles. Got it cheap because it had been dropped in a parking lot. Mechanically the bike is fine but the right faring and muffler is gashed a bit. I bought it as a starter bike so now I won't feel so bad when I drop it.
No blinkers on that "orange" F4i?
I bought mine for $4700. 2001 with 7k miles. MINT condition (never dropped. Couldn't even find a single scratch). Stock.
Mine's exactly the same as the bike pictured above. (Red/Black). Great looking bike.

I bought my 01 with 7600 miles for 1600$ and a 30 rack. Threw a new flywheel cover on it, new set of clipons, and one rearset and good to go... Gotta love salvage-title bikes... everyones scared of them, and the prices are ridiculously cheap.
I know someone selling a 03 silver/black salavged f4i with like 10k miles on them for 3600. Would this be worth looking at. What are the negative things about salvaged titled bikes? What if they have been fixed and look and run perfect? Are they worth looking into?

The only negative thing about salvage bike is just that... they have a salvage title and thus are monetarily worth less.... But, the f4i is hugely popular with the Stunt crowd (which is what i do, and why i bought it) so it is not hard to sell them at all. I bought mine for 16, and sold it for 2950 after riding it on the ice all winter.
If the 03 is minty, try talking him down... say 34 cash or 32 cash... Thats not a bad price at all really if its a complete bike. If it is a streetfigther or stunted then it might be a little high depending on how clean it is. Right now im lookin at an 02 f4i thats caged, streetfightered and has a 12 bar for 3500$ with a clean title. If you dont mine scratches/rash then check out the stunt forums... bikes go cheap on those. Personally, i would never buy a new bike, or a bike over 5000$ because all you are buying is cosmetics... For instance.. My friend just bough a clean titled 929 for 5400$...just to spite him, i looked around, and found a salvage titled 929 that needed right side fairing, upper, windscreen and can for 3200 obo (im sure i could ahve talked the owner down to 28 or 29...motivated to sell)... I dont know about you, but if you are the least bit mechanically capable, a clean title is nothing more than bragging rights in my opinion.... certainly not worth thousands. The biggest things to look out for on salvage bikes, is to make sure the frame is straight (typically around the neck the paint will chip if its bent), obvious stress cracks in the aluminum, and subframe mouting tabs. Ive owned several salvage bikes, and am selling some of my honda stuff right now to finally pick up another bike... probably an f4i or 636.

Thats good to know. Supposedly everthing is fixed. Are salvage titled bikes any harder to insure/get a loan for?? Generally clean titled f4is are worth from 600-4500 from 03-01 correct? You think 3200 would be fair of an asking price for a bike with those miles in perfect cosmetic/running condition with a salvage title.
