Default 96 DX hatchback

Does the 1996 Honda civic dx hatchback come with powersteering? Because if so, it might be cheaper for me to install the parts. I bought the car and the owner said it didnt come with powersteering which I found very odd.

I wonder if ps will really be a big difference as to not having it? I know that it must really help to better control it and manuveur.

When you parallel park it is a huge difference. Also when you are stuck in traffic and want to change lanes quickly. Other than that, once you're driving it doesn't really make a difference.

umm.. dont know if its different but my 99 dx came with P/s.. usually to me the power steering only effects you the most when your in a parking lot.. other wise if your moving you should have more control over the car

I downloaded an online 96-00 civic manual(requires registration), and if anyone has the digital version, power steering install starts on section 17-39. Would mods allow me to post the link to it online? Its all I could find, does anyone know of a write up on how to install Power steering. Its a pain in the *** for to move around in a parking lot, so i definitely need it.

i want to add this in if anyone didnt notice, but

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by louie3252 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">my dx came w/ ps. i got rid of it and swapped in a manual rack... lemme know if u want the ps rack, free to a good home. did the right thing, if you dont want P/S then you will need to change out the manual rack as well...if you just removed the P/S and used a P/S rack...it will be a little bit hursh on the rack and will break down...i know some people on H-T have done this and havent had an issue...but i think this is the best/correct way of doing it

eh2 dx's had p/s for automatics, and no p/s for manuals. I don't know if the ek's are the same.
