A/C Service for 91 CRX
I just bought a 91 CRX and is serious need of AC service. Im really scratching my head though with my first AC service. The dude I boutht the car from hasn't had a charge on the car in like 3-4 years. First thing I did was check the charge with my manifold set. NOTHING on either side; expected that. So I replaced the drier and pulled a deep vacuum and all I can get is 5-7" tops after 30-40 minutes. Soon as I shut the pump down it goes to atmosheric almost instantly. SO I shoot some 134 w/ UV dye in the system. No dye anywhere (that I can see) ....so I'm wondering what's goin on. When I was deep pulling I could here air in the manifold lines up close. I tried changed out the LP and HP side shrader valve, but the LP port is not a "standard" size..The core remover tool won't stradle the valve (not wide enough). The system was converted the previous owner did the last AC service and it hasn't worked since according to a service report from a local Honda shop. They said it needs a new compressor, drier and pressure switch. Somebody got any ideas or similar crap they've dealt with? Last thing I want to do is go to the dealr.
