Yeah, pretty straight forward...and yes I searched...
If putting a different cluster in your car (like I wanna put a 94-01 'teg cluster in my EJ1) and obviously the wires/plugs won't match. So I was wondering, which is "more efficient" way of doing it?
Way 1 - The way I was kinda thinking would be the best:
When getting the cluster from a junkyard and instead of unplugging it, just cut the harnesses before the plug so the wires are hanging (and you have the plugs in the cluster), taking it back, after looking at a wiring schamatic, just re-pin the old wires into the new plugs... Then it'll just plug in, and there's no soddering or cutting required, just repin the new plugs on the 'teg cluster with the wires unpinned from the old plugs...
Way 2 - The way everybody else seems to do it:
Just cut the wires and sodder them to their counterparts on the harness...or heat shrink, whatever.
I'm thinking that the first way's a lot more efficient, maybe more time consuming, but whatever.
Anybody have any advice? Good/bad results from either one?
