Rebuild d16z6
alright. so i just recently bough a motor from a salvage withlike 141k on ite. i know thats alot. but i wanna rebuild and i payed very ittle for it. its a 1.6l d16a block with a z6 vtec head. i wanna know what i should do realy. considering im just starting i need to know what al i have to do if i want an all motor civic. high compression i know but if i replace the pistons and rebore it or watever. do i have to get new rods and a new cam or what?... i plan on using my paycheck evey 2 weeks to keep upgrading and adding on. but the motor is out right now so i wanted todo the pistons right now. any help.... i want high compression.
what do you mean it's a d16a with a d16z6? is it a d16z6 that's stamped on the block or what?
If you want high compression then put in 88-91 integra P29 pistons into your engine. They will go right onto the d16 rods and work perfectly fine. They will bump up your compression to I belive somewhere along the lines of 11.5/12:1
So it will be a larger compression bump over what you currently have. Then add a ZEX SOHC camshaft, valvetrain(valve springs and retainers) and you will have a base of a beasty SOHC engine.
If you bump up your compression you will need to run 91 or so octane to properly combust and burn rather then the shittier octane gas. Make sure the get the engine tuned to get a base map and a final map of the fuel and air/fuel ratio so your engine runs fine with the setup you will have.
