95 Civic Dx ?
i was told that on the sohc vtec zc motor your could not run the p28 ecu with the z6 wiring harness and have the vtec work right. i am going crazy trying to figure out why my brothers check engine light is staying on....i wired up the vtec and for some reason everytime when he gets on it at the end of second gear the check engine light comes on.....i have checked the wiring 100 times everything is right....i was told that the p08 ecu the motor came with was different then the p28 that its running now and that i need to wire a 1 wire o2 sensor and get rid of the 4 wire...i am running out of ideas and i know somone has to have a idea!!! anything at all!!!
first of all, do a self check engine light check lol. there is a two wire haness that is blue, that is near the ecu, there could be a few other plugs like i have that are blue (i have a 00 EX) but there is a two wire connector, short those two wires by sticking a paper clip in there, and turn the key to the on (II) position. the check engine light will then blink a certain number of times depending on if a code was thrown or not. its kinda like morse code, one long blink is 10, and a short one is 1, so three long blinks, followed by 4 short blinks, would be 34, reference whatever combo you have with a DTC chart, should be a lot of them floating around here.
if your check engine light goes out, and then comes back on solid, and after a few secs, the SRS light comes on, that means all self tests for the sensors, and the SRS system passed, and your car is good to go.
