Default 92 Prelude Speedo

Okay so lastnight...well early this morning. I was driving my girlfriend's prelude home from work when the speedo stopped working. I was doin about 65 on the freeway, not making any sudden turns or anything, but then when i got back on to surface streets everytime i'd go over a bump it would start working again and then stop working, start, stop, start, stop etc. Any ideas on what's up? The car is really low on oil but it's my understanding that shouldn't effect the speedo whatsoever....
No check engine light, no oil light, nothing except for the normal "brake lamp" light...Help? Thanks!

I'm not sure about Preludes, but that happened on my 92 Acura Legend, the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) went bad, hope that helps.

if it worked over bumps but then stopped working again, something is probably loose. VSS connects to trans right by where shift cables are (if its MT). check it out
