Default 02 accord CAI and wiring

Hi all, I am new here. I like the posts and your responses. They have helped me a great bit in a short period of time.
2 questions
1: I have just installed a Fujita cold air intake into my 02 accord and it feels good, but there is a whistle from the filter as I start, rev up, and swithch of the engine. Is that normal or is it supposed to be a low sounding grumble?
2: I am installing some mood lights into my dash vents and under the dash, aslo in the planing process of putting in my laptop in the modified glove compartment area. Right now I have a fuse tap running to a "splitter" type box with 9 leds and 2 Neons. The "splitter" box has its own fuses to each connection. The question is should I run a postive wire (w/fuse)from the battery through the firewall, and If i do this How can I change a 4 or 8 gauge wire from the battery to a 12 gauge for the "splitter"box for lights and stuff.
Again this seems like a cool place to hang.
Thanks

1. A whistle is completely normal.
2. You should run a seperate power wire from the battery for any aftermarket electrical items. If your splitter has a 12g input, then just run a 12g wire through the firewall.

the power from the battery won't fry/damage the low gauge wiring?

Nope. The only thing that can damage the low gauge wiring is too much current going through it. I'm sure that you won't have that problem with your lights.
