Default trying to piece my 1st kit mignt be a FAQ for dp's but i could not track it down

here's a noob question. Just trying to piece my 1st kit together. How do you know which downpipe you will need? The one that comes out toward the drivers wheel or one that comes out toward the passenger wheel? Does it depend on the turbo or the manifold? or can you manipulate it to come out either side? do you know what i mean?

i got a a t3/to4e with a 5 bolt exhaust flange

thanks david

here is my wtb turbo parts list if you got some fs's https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1725053

Usually when you get a setup, you get the manifold and downpipe as a pair, but if not, then find someone who is selling a DP and buy it. You can make it fit or you can talk to one of the Sponsors in the MarketPlace and have them make you a DP for your manifold.

so it depends on the manifold to which way the exhaust turbine is going to face. this is confusing being a noob and not having no parts on hand to see for my self ive looked at tons of pics and post and that last post brought me back to square one

so should i just buy any manifold log style perferred then mount my turbo and manny and see which way it is facing?

thanks

whoa....slow down!!

you're not in a bad position right now...what kind of manifold do you have?? Are you keepin AC or PS??

If it is possible, try mounting the turbo and manifold and see which way works better....when i bought my manifold and DP i also made the mistake of getting only the manifold....i had to send my manifold off to get a dp made so that i could keep AC. There are plenty of fab companies who are willing to help you get boosted......

oh yeah dont have a manny yet just a turbo t3/t04e garrett 57 .63 5 bolt dp flange 4 bolt manifold flange

ok so i think i got it. You can face the exhaust turbine any way on any manifold(w/the same flange) as long as you dont have ac/ps. Right?

which way is better is there a better way? i would say facing the passenger wheel.

well then you need to figure out your budget and get a parts list started....that's the best way to start. If you get a breakdown of what you want and how much you have to spend, then you can start looking for parts in that particular price range. Also set a power goal......

what engine??

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> which way is better is there a better way? i would say facing the passenger wheel </TD></TR></TABLE>

usually putting the exhaust side facing the passanger side of the car means fewer bends in the dp so if you have that option.....take it. That all depends on the manifold you get though

280 with that turbo on 9-10 psi is doable if you do it right. I made 274.9whp and 194.4wtq on 9 psi w/ a T3T04E 60 trim which is basically the same turbo you have...

pm'd you...

That's a very common turbo that you have. If you hit up one of the people that make manifolds then they will likely be able to make you a mani/dp combo that will fit your engine/chassis. I am unsure if the ls head vs. the b16 head will change anything as far as the dp goes, but I'm sure that whoever you go with will be able to answer that question for you.

Shortlist of people who can prolly do it for you.....

Phil from Spoolin' Performance (project dc2)
Cody from Love Fab (Tinker219)
The guys @ Peakboost (PeakBOOST)
Jesse From Arizona Forced Induction (TurboJesse)

This is just off of the top of my head. The h-t nicknames are in parenthesis. Not sure if all of them do a log manifold (or even if that is what you are looking for) but for sure Phil from Spoolin' would have a log mani/dp/dump combo for ya. GL.
