VSS wire location on a 91 Integra LS
Hey there guys, I need some help pointing out where the VSS wire is located under the hood. The reason is because I bought a Pioneer AVIC-D2, and it has gauges on there to get stats from your car's VSS wire.
I was curious to know which would be the easiest to tap into, under the hood, or under the dash.
TIA
also what colors, and if anyone has pictures or a diagram, that'd help me alot! I wish I could find out on my own but I dont have a Helms manual or any other manual for that matter to look up the wiring diagram for the G2's
PS, I posted this in the integra section, and some guy had a fit because it wasnt "technical", whatever.. hope you guys can help me here!

There has to be an easier way to get access to it w/o taking out the cluster. I'm sure the installers dont go to this extent. what about in the engine bay by the firewall, or under the dash somewhere easy..

Dude, dont be a dick.. I know there's an easier way than to tear out the gauge cluster.. there's a wire that has to run from the engine to somewhere that gives that info.. the only location isnt behind the cluster.
Get me someone in here who actually know's what they're talkin about

Yeah, Directechs says behind the cluster, too... I'm sure the wire changes colors between the sensor and the cluster, so just tap it there....
Isn't it like 4 screws to pop the cluster out??

Well if that's all it is, than i guess I could try to attempt it. I was thinking when i was watching my boy try to take off his gauge cluster in his MK3 Supra-T... he had to take the whole trim piece that goes across about half the dash, just to get to the 8 screws holding his cluster in

Naw man... Should be 2 screws above the cluster in the trim around the cluster, then a couple of clips... Then the cluster is held in by 2 (or 4) screws... That's the way it was on my '94 Civic, and my '98 Civic, so I'm assuming it's going to be pretty much the same on a '91 Teg...

It is a little bit more of a pain to pull the cluster on a g2, to remove...
1- Remove 2 screws at top of trim bezel.
2- Remove 2 screws on lower part of trim bezel, one on each side of steering column
3- Remove blower fan and A/C switch ***** and pry cover off and remove screws
under it.
4- Remove the screw at the right end of bezel, [right side of climate controls.
5- Remove 3 screws that hold lower dash trim, one is under coin tray
6- Remove trim bezel, don't forget to unplug the switches.
7- Remove 4 screws holding cluster in place, fold cluster out.

Sorry guys, but I snapped I could call Crutchfield for help, they said the wire's located on the passanger side, under the carpet.. there's a box, forgot the name, and it's a yellow w/ red stripe'd wire pin number b16.
Thanks for your help
Thanks for your help
At ECM, that would also be correct, [on 92 and 93 g2, on a 91 Haynes indicates it's pin 17] be careful there are 2 red/yellow wires the other one, [pin 27] goes to "Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor".

Well by stating that I was "lazy" was not necessary. There was more reasons as to why I wanted an easier location. And if you want the truth, I didnt feel like taking the cluster out because, 1) i've never done it before, 2) I didnt need to attempt this for the first time along with the installation and mess my cluster up, then that would be more money I haft to shell out to fix it. I'm just a little paranoid when it comes to stuff like that. I'm very meticulous about that kinda stuff.

I understand that but trying to take a shot at me saying that I don't know what I am talking about was really unnecessary. Comments like that make people not want t help you is what I am trying to get at. How is the AVIC working out for you?

Imagin if you were an installer, I came to you to install this for me, and you told me, "dont be lazy, do it yourself..." How do you think that would make me feel? I'm coming to you for help for a reason, and being a professional, i'd think that you would install it for me since thats the line of business you're in. And you tell me to stop being lazy and do it myself.. come on now.. see where i'm coming from?
But it's working out good, i'm just having a little problem with the voice guidence system. I think i've checked all my settings and all the voice guidence volume's are up.. and I still get no sound.
BUT I think I might have an idea. I dont have front speakers, just rear's on an amp, and my sub's.. anyone with this system, does the voice guidence come out of all speakers, or just the fronts?

I see where you are coming from. I am an installer and I thought that you were too, that is why I said to not be lazy. My bad. That was my mistake.

Well it turns out that I was correct, the voice does only come through the front speakers. But I took it out, and fixed it. Now it works like a charm!
Now I just gota vacume the car really good since it's full of wire shard's and double sided tape paper's, etc lol
I'll post pictures of it in a few days when I get her a little more cleaned up
