Default XM Radio Help

Tried to do a search for this, but couldn't find any information. Just purchased an 06 Civic EX with XM ready stereo. I already had XM in my old car with one of the little Delphi boxes, but the honda dealer said that I would have to use the delphi box to make it work in my new car. I know this is TOTAL BS, so I'm looking for information from those of you who know. I don't want to use the old delphi box any more, but I want to transfer my account to the new car.

Thanks!

Speaking from inexperience and only a few friends I believe you account is linked to a specific radio. That is why they have those all-in-on XM radios that you can put in your car, put in a boom box etc. You might be able to transfer the account or they might want to be stubborn and make you close your existing account (if you want to) and create a new account.

I do not believe you are allowed to have one open account on two seperate radios. That would be too nice of the companies to allow that.

Well, the XM is already paid through june of 2007, so I was trying to use it in the new car.

Tried calling XM, but their responses was "you can add it as another user on a family plan". It's a little like a cell phone family plan, only costs another $5/month or something like that. The problem with that is that I would have the little box that nobody is using. I think I'm just going to have to try calling a few different Honda Dealerships til I find someone who knows something. Obviously the dealer I bought the car from doesn't.

Thanks for the responses!

Other option is see if you have a friend that wants your XM subscription. A lot of contracts including cellular phones have the ability to transfer the liability of the contract to someone else. That is how people get outa of early termination fees, instead they transfer the contract to friend or family.

Actually finally found the information I needed at http://www.anythinghondaonline.com. They sell radios and a bunch of other junk. They have the full instructions for doing the install from Honda.

Moral of the story, my dealer is an idiot.
