What was your first motorcycle scare?
Just had my real first where i was like "whoa." It wasn't even that bad, I took a turn on the streeet that I live on and i just moved in(college apartment) so i didn't know about the awesome dirt patch and and i slid out so bad I almost went down. Given that I only starting riding last year I almost had a heart attack.
so if you remember your first real "scare" post it up

Yes, and I was 9, trees happen. In other words, all I remember was the tree (because it was the first of many things to hit, most of those things being different locations of ground)

My first scare was when I took a two lane back road for the first time. I was distracted by watching the scenery and people in their yard because the ride was boring. I looked forward after two or three seconds and almost ran a stop sign. I had about 50 to 75 feet to come to a stop from 60 mph. Thankfully no traffic was around because I ended up 5 feet into the intersection by the time I stopped.
My first scare was when I had my Ninja 250. I was going around a round-about in my neighborhood pretty quick and leaned it over into new tire where there was still wax so the rear kinda slid, I had only been riding a week or two so it kinda startled me.
1st big scare: third month of riding, heading out of town, my chain is making a funny noise, so i lean my head down to listen for a second, look back up and the guy in front of me has slammed on his breaks to pick up some hitchhiking friend of his... i flew into his trunk, broke my wrist on impact, then fell off and slid 20 feet or so rashing up my arm pretty well. Ive wore a jacket and full gauntlet gloves ever since.
2nd big scare: at the track 2 weeks ago comming out of turn 11 at JGP, doing around 90mph, full lean, knee on the ground, the rear slick starts to slip a bit, so i hold my throttle and wait for it to pull back in, but it doesnt pull back in, it highsides me.
ive locked up the rear, hit sandy spots and slid, and hydroplaned on both the street and track, but i try not to get scared by those... getting scared only makes you more likely to bin it.

one of my first times out on the new bike, I was on the freeway and traffic completely stopped all of a sudden and I was going too fast.. locked up my rear tire and skid between about 4-5 cars then merged back in like nothing happened.. scary but I had it under control so it didnt bother me too much, still scary though.
the one that really shook me was when I took a right hand turn too fast with cold tires in the morning, my rear tire broke loose in mid turn and I drifted and wobbled for a second or two.. I got it back under control, but god damn my *** ate a little bit of my underwear that day.
Those were really my only scary moments so far *knock on wood*

Riding home from work and it had just rained. Civic full of "thugs" pulls a deadly left turn in front of me, i grab the brakes and the rear tire comes right out from under me. luckily i was able to keep it up.
1st: rear-wheel slide out while tires and ground were cold, held it and shifted my weight
2nd: guy in SUV on his cell phone cuts across 3-lanes of traffic and comes within about 15 feet of my front wheel
3rd: merging traffic causes me to brake hard and move to the shoulder
4th: front-wheel lock-up in I-495 traffic, almost hitting a mazda3 (completely my fault)
Luckily i've come out on two-wheels all times
i've also had numerous target fixations and i'm getting better at preventing them

I wasnt paying attention to a light I was coming up on and it was red. locked up the rear tire and went sideways a little, instead of riding it out till it was straightened out I let go and the tire caught grip and almost flew me off. My buddy was behind me in his car and said he has no idea how I didnt wreck.
to me for not paying attention

probably when I t-boned a car that ran a stop sign. Atleast I t-boned him and not the other way around.
I ended up doing almost 12 o'clock endo and the bike came down and fell over. I just sprainged my ankle, but did like $7600 in damage to a $5600 bike.

i was like 3 years old and i was out in the back yard riding on the little motocross track my dad built. from what my dad says i went through the whoops, lost control and rode straight into this huge rose bush that was in our yard. i was literally stuck in the middle of the bush. it took my dad well over an hour to get me out. someone in my fam still has the pictures of when they got me out. it looks like i have the chicken pox but it is really all the small holes from the thorns sticking in me.
second scare was the next day when i was riding to a neighbors house. they had dug a trench around their whole house to redo the wiring and plumbing. when i was hauling *** over to their place i didnt see it until i was right up on it, and by the time i hit the brakes it was too late and i slid on the muddy grass right into the trench. my dad came looking for me because i never showed up at the neighbors garage, and when he did he said alls he could hear was the faint idle of the bike. he finally walked up to the area i was in and looked down and there were my handle bars stretched across the trench holding my bike, and there was me down in the trench holding onto my bike for dear life.
damn, them were the days.

lookin back it had to be all of 5-6 feet. doesnt seem like it would have been that deep but when you are 3 years old runnin around on your little 50 it seemed like the endless pit.
About 2 weeks into riding, I was still trying to get used to the clutch and I let it go too quickly. The front wheel started to wobble and I only had one hand on the bars because the bike jumped forward. Luckily I was able to grab onto the left bar and gain control again. That got me to stop riding for about 2 weeks.
my first attempt at a 90 degree turn, I approached it at the same speed as I would in my car and realized iut was too fast for me at my skill level and just blew the double yellow.

when you focus on an object you are trying to avoid instead on looking where you want to go.
