Best Way to Cool the Engine?
Not much traffic over in Competition right now, so I'll post here as well...
As the temps start rising (it will be near 90 here this weekend) I'm starting to wonder what is the best way to cool an engine between autox runs?
Should I shut off the engine and pop the hood? Keep the motor running and turn on the heater?
thanks

Keep the heater on full blast before, during and after your run.
Go for an extended cruise after you run (if possible) to cool the brakes.
Other than that, park in a shaded area (again if possible) and pop the hood.

yea no need during the run...but always always let the car run for some time at idle before you shut her down....and while you're doing that run the heater...also pop the hood but i usually dont pop it all the way up, i use a bar or something to raise the hood but still shade the engine....
for autox its less of a big deal. For a national, div or Prosolo event yea I'd do it. for a local its not too big a deal..but always do so after lapping on track.

Test with J's racing carbon hood - 13 C degree difference from the stock hood:
The temperature of engine room was 78.1 C (172.6 F) and the water temperature was 101.8 C (215.2 F) after the 5 laps. The differences from the stock hood are 6 C degree for the water temperature and an impressive 13 C degree for the engine room temperature.
