Overheating issues
Dear sirs, yesterday I replaced the radiator cap, this morning I filled the radiator with water as well as the overflow tank, well things were going well on my way to work until I got on the highway, the temp needle begin to rise and then I heard a pop and the needle dropped to the halfway mark, i pulled over, popped the hood and the radiator has a crack in it near the radiator cap, now I have the to replace the radiator, and the car is in the parking lot at work as I was able to make it to work, any other suggestions.........
Was the car overheating before the radiator cracked? Tell us the entire story. Do you have any idea of what kind of car you own?
I'd say to replace the radiator then have a system pressure check done. It is possible for a bad head gasket to allow too much pressure into the coolant system.

I apologize, i have a '96 honda accord ex, yes the car was overheating, I had the thermostat replaced, and the car continued to overheat, so I tried stop leak, and filled the radiator with water, keep in mind i was unaware that using water was a no, no....., when i checked the oil, I didn't see water mixing with the oil, so i continued to drive it, filling the radiator and overflow tank with water, yesterday i replaced the radiator cap, and the radiator cracked on the highway........

Also be sure the cooling fans are working.

how long have you owned the car? have you ever changed the timing belt and water pump?, when the car is at the overheat mark have you noticed if the fan was on ? were you running the a/c at the time it overheated (both times)?
if your car did not stall out when you popped the radiator i would say you are still in good shape as i have overheated my 89 accord several times and it was ok each time but i never ran it till it stalled.
also how old are your hoses? bad hoses can collapse causeing pressure build up.
by the way since you live in the same town as i do, go to Central auto parts to get your radiator as they have the best prices in orlando on radiators. i bought 3 from them and saved about $30 each time ( radiators were for 3 dif cars)
if you cant do a timing belt/waterpump your self if your pump is the problem then take it to holler honda in winter park they are fair and do good work my room mate did hers there and it ran her about 600 bucks maybe 100 less i dont remember exactly as it was a while ago and she had some other work done too.

dont worry about adding water only to your radiator as it wont stay in long enough to dasmage the car when you have a leak , now what color is your radiator now that it overheated? did it turn a orangy/red rust color? if so then you def need to flush the car real good once you fix it as there is rust build up in the block.
