Vibrant flat black muffler-anyone using them??
I've been seeing more and more flat black, quiet mufflers on the site and its making me think about switching over to a more low profile and stealth muffler. I've been to court three times for one "aftermarket muffler" ticket and don't wanna do that again. Heres some pics I found, I just want to know how these sound and if they hold up well to snow, salt, and etc. I'll be coming from a full cat back tanabe super racing medalion, so I hope its quieter than that but NOT than tin can ricey sound

I'd probably try to tuck mine clasoer to the bumper so its less visible.

the volume/quality of sound is going to depend on the rest of the system. it's a stright-thru muffler similar to Magnaflow if I remember correctly. With 2.5" piping and no additional resonator, it will still be pretty damn loud.
I'd recommend this for a quieter performance system- 2.25" or 2.5" piping, two 14" Magnaflow resonators, Vibrant muffler or Magnaflow painted with black hi-temp paint, conservative polished tip like the ones on the RSX.
I doubt you'd ever get pulled over for that in any state unless you're driving stupid and you'll get plenty of flow.

I'm definately considering one of these as well. I'm tired of the profile from the police. Price wise what are we looking at? And are these used frequently w/ turbo applications?
was also thinking bout it alot fo the eg/dc/ek boys are doing it more and more... was wondering if anyone had any 5th gens with this kind of muffler??

Oops I'll edit my above post with the muffler type.
It's an Apex'i Dunk that I put a few coats of hi-temp engine paint on it. Was originally polished but there was too much sun-bling going on.
About the 5th. gen. w/ Vibrant Exhaust: It borders on stock volume from the outside and really has a unique WOT tone. I would get it for sure.

The vibrant muffler should resist with no problem to these as it's made of stainless steel and covered by the black paint.
For the sound there should be some sound clip on other threads about this muffler, seems like it sounds great from what I read.
Haven't install mine yet so I can' t confirm you that

don't do a test pipe please. the power gains are minimal unless you have a highly tuned car, and your exhaust will be a lot louder. and you will lose a little low end power, which you want for daily driven cars.
i have a megan header (ebay replacement for by dented stock header), stock cat, stock b-pipe, and a custom spoon axle back which i painted semi-gloss black and left a polished tip for an oem look. looks good, sounds awsome, and is only loud when you get on it or remove the silencer. i will try to get some pics posted soon.

why do you have a 3 inch muffler mated to 2.25 inch piping? And do you have any sound clips so I can judge for myself the sound?

the reason i got the 3in inlet is beacause it come with a 3in out let, IF you went with a samller in let you got a smaller outlet. My thinking on this one, bigger in bigger out makes for a deeper tone and not that raspy *** rice sound. I dunno if its true but it seemd to work for me an it sounds good. Dont have any sound clips but i will try gettin one tonight an posten it up for you. But take my word for it you wont be dissapointed if your tired of listening to what you have now.
Not to hijack this thread, but I currently have the Apexi WS2, and I hate the tip on it. Too freaking big. I'm looking at Vibrant universals now after looking at this thread. With the Apexi piping (huge *** resonator) how loud do you think these would be?
