Default To Honda badge or not to Honda Badge?

I just ordered a Type-R badge to replace the "Si" on the grill of my EP3. As long as I'm gonna pull the grill off and fiddle with the badge setup, I might as well ask what people think. Why would I think about pulling off the JDM Honda badge? Because I saw this hawt pic on the EP3 pic thread. (See below)

Not putting on the Type-R badge is not an option, hell, I just payed 45 bucks for it, it's gonna go on for at least a little while, especially since I have a K20A2 (so it's not a poser badge ).

No Honda Badge:

Looks alot nicer with out the honda badge. DO IT

Is your grill going to look clean like the first picture or is it going to have an empty space where the honda badge went?

seriously though, don't put a type-r badge on unless you actually have one.

Yeah, this is going to be the general concensus. You need to add a choice for not putitng the Type R badge on at all.

if you examine the badgeless one closely, you can tell that it in fact is not debadged. he copied a piece of the grill and put it over where the H was.

PUT THE BADGE...everyone says no..."its not a type R" who cares. just do what you want...

people say stupid crap like stop faking the funk. well if thats the case, stop putting in recaro seats....it didn't come with them. stop putting on type r body kits.
please, you see people turning there EK's as close to type R status as possible. you don't hear people say he's gay for that. For some reason DC5/Ep3 owners have these rules that if you don't follow, your ride isn't cool.....DO what YOU want....think outside the box!!!

Rice my ***........can't stand stupid ****.

Default To Address Each side of the issue...

Obviously, the vote seems to be that I'm misbadging my car and therefore "posing" or being a "ricer" by attaching this badge. When I made this poll, I was of the beleif that the Type-R Civic was released with a K20A2 engine... I was wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong again, but from what I've just read, the Type-R in fact had the K20A engine (in the Euro EP3's.) In the Euro version, that K20A was pumping out 197hp, but the JDM version used a couple of tricks to kick it up to 220hp. This is upsetting to me, because I just bought a badge without doing my research, assuming that the K20A2 in my car is identical to the ones in Type-R's in both Europe and Japan. To those of you who are so sensitive as to hate me for such an uneducated purchase, I sincerely apologize.

That said, in my defense, the car has a K20A2 engine in it, not the stock K20A3. Once again, going on what I've read (I'm a noob, and I read up on this stuff to learn more things, so sorry), the K20A2 runs at 200hp, more than the Euro Type-R, but quite a few less than the Japanese version. I am proud of the fact that my car has an engine swap, and if nothing else, the Type-R badge will get people to ask questions, giving me an opportunity to boast. Call me what you will, label me as the riciest ricer that ever riced, the badge is going on the car. The Si badge will come off carefully, so that I can replace it if I so choose. Until then, I'd like to drive around with a poser badge on. Forgive me for wanting to get my 45 dollars worth.

I posted this poll to get opinions on the aesthetics of the badging, and ended up getting a lot of opinions about the badging itself. Thank you all for your input, I take all comments into consideration. Do I feel stupid for buying the badge? Yes. Do I like the badge? Yes. Would I have bought the badge if I had done my homework first? It wouldn't have been my first purchase, that's for sure. To those of you who feel like I'm giving Honda drivers a bad name, I apologize. The badge will more than likely be removed sooner or later, and I may or may not put the Si badge back on.

Thanks for the input, I'd rather be chastised for incorrectly badging my car than have my post ignored.

eskeibble speaks the truth. You asked for opinions and we gave them, but you have the last and final say in it. Yes the CTR has the same engine (mostly anyway) as the Type-S, so if you share that engine you're a little closer to CTR-hood.

Recaros and body stylyings don't scream, I'm an ITR/CTR, they may make YOU, the person viewing it think twice about it, but at least your not going out saying it is a Type-R with the badges and stickers all over. That badge is a statement, and it is "I'm a Type-R." That's like a white man putting on a Malcom X shirt and saying he's Black. (bad analogy but closest I can do this soon after waking up).

All that said, you can never go wrong as long as you love your car.

Thing is...no matter what you do to it, it never left the assembly line as a genuine Type R, nor was there ever a Type R released on US shores in EP3 trim.

Speaking as someone who owns a genuine Type R (DC2 of course), due to all of the people 'rebadging' their cars as Type R's (and I know you've seen them--I can't tell you how many Type R 96-00 Civic coupes I've seen), I get asked all the damn time if my car is real. Cracks me up.

So put the badge on your car if you want--it is your car--but no matter what you do to it, it will never be the real thing. To me, that just isn't my style. Red badges and stuff are ok, but mixing trimlines is just odd, IMO.
