Default OT: New found respect for S2000

I was on my way to school the other day with a buddy of mine in my ITR. Just for the stories sake my ITR has a good amount of mods done to it. Jun3 cams, JUN ECU, JDM DC header, Mugen CAI, Tanabe exhaust with no restrictions, and several other things. Anyways..... At a stop light I see a 98ish black M3 with a 'Dinan' badge on it, I get next to him and he's not interested... so my buddies like "look up there, you know what that is" And it was a silver S2K.

So I speed up and match speeds and admire his ride (looked stock) A older guy is driving, he looks over and smiles. So the next thing I know he downshifts and takes off, we were going around 50 and I throw it into 3rd and I could not catch the damn thing for the life of me! I thought I would have at least made up some ground, but nope. I hit 9000K and shift into 4th and relize I am not going anywhere here. So I thought I would share with you guys that say how slow the S2K is, and everything. I am here to tell you ITS NOT slow.

Maybe If I was alone and didn't have two backpacks loaded with heavy *** school books things would have been different. It's been a boring day, enjoy my story. Oh yah if all your going to say is "Street racing, blah, blah" don't waste the energy it takes to type the letters out.

S2Ks are sweet. I'm very surprised that with your mods, you didn't pull on him.. Maybe that extra weight hurt a little. Would love to hear your R screaming at 9k rpm.. to older guys with nice rides that are good sports..

when mine was stock, I took a turbo`d LS from about 65-130 (3am on the freeway ). Pulled about 7-8 cars.

The old dude must have being spraying! The S2000 from a roll on are WEAK!, They handle and stop well, But on a good day there a 14.0 car. I think you need to check your R , maybe it needs tuning .

The older guy in the S2K who likes to downshift on ITR's will be me in like 20 years!! lol

I was just suprised that guy downshifted and took off, now that I think about it I should have went into 2nd. I still thought I was going to catch him. But it didn't happen. If I was alone and had a even start the outcome probably would have been different.

Whoever said "S2K's are slow when going from a rolling start, you have apparantly never raced one, or one who actually was racing before.

I wish older guys who drive nice cars were more like this guy! It made my day. Gave me something to talk about during my boring *** Oceanography class.

I also own both an ITR and a S2k...and as far as it being weak off the roll i have to disagree!. If anything the s2k is weak off the line, but if its rolling then look out. the s2k in 2nd-3rd is very very quick, and pulls very hard. Both cars are very different and have their advantages, but no one should call the s2k weak.

fais-who still knows niether of his cars are Z06's but loves em.

S2K = Hondas version of a Miata

I have little to no respect for the S2K.

Flame away gentlemen.

I have an ITR and an S2000 -- I'd say they are both "slow" in comparison with many other cars. And…?
Not all of us can sport the same list of cars as yourself.....

I raced a 2k2 S2k on interstate, we both dropped 3rd at 70 and we were dead even, nobody gained anything all the way till 120 and we had to slow b/c of traffic.

I often think the only people who really believe either of these cars is fast have just stepped out of Civics and Accords.
I don't know if your in the NE area but you need to ride in mine and tell people the ITR is slow. Of course it takes alot to hit a 11.9 and get ejected from the track for no roll cage.

That S2000 must've had Comptech S/C. Are you sure that you didn't hear any "whine"? There's no way a JunIII equipped ITR is slower than a stock S2000... unless your car is untuned and making less than 180whp.

I have the JUN ECU, so my tuning should be good. And I can assure you I am making well over 180whp. I think it had more to do with him getting a huge jump, me shifting into 3rd instead of 2nd, and me having two big guys in my car (myself and friends) and heavy boat anchor book bags.

S2K's are quick, and it's not fair to compare it to the miata. It's faster and it handles better. IMO, the S2K is in a different class than the miata, with around 100 hp more out of an engine that's .2 liters bigger.
