gsr differential bearing. need help.
is there a way to take the bearing out of the stock differential without destroying it. just got my quaife today. also do you need to shim anything.
When I put in my LSD, you didn't really need to take the bearing out of the stock differential. The Quaiffe should completely replace the stock diff.
I didn't need to shim anything, but I installed an ITR one, not a Quaiffe. I had to use a different sized shim/spacer on the side where the differential is "smaller." I had to do this in order for the housing to bolt up snugly.

I bought new bearings from Acura......$69.00 apiece.....I don't think you can pull the old ones off without breaking them........the Quaife does not come with any bearings, so you have to get new ones. I did not re-shim anything and it worked out real nice. My Acura dealer even told me not to worry about shims. Be careful with the speedo gear.....it's fragile.
Hey shamoo.........what do you mean you don't really need to replace the bearings? Did your ITR lsd come with bearings?

The Helms manual shows using a bearing splitter (see photo) in combination with a bearing puller (see photo). The bearing splitter slips under the bearing and then the bearing puller is attached to the splitter. This combination prevents the bearing from being damaged.
