Yet another clutch adjustment question....
Alright I have searched and read many posts about people trying to adjust there clutch (I am referring to a cable clutch) to make it grab closer to the floor. I am interested in doing the same thing myself, and I have a couple of questions:
1. Do I turn the adjusting nut near the transmission clockwise or counterclockwise to tighten it?
2. If I want it to grab closer to the floor would I want more threads above the adjusting nut? or Below it?
Also is there any easier way of adjusting the nut? Trying to get it to go around the "****" thing that holds it into place is a pain in the ***, I actually just broke half of mine off trying to do that. It looks almost like it would come out, however since for some stupid f**king reason it's rubber, I don't dare tug on it for fear of it braking off.
Thanks

As for making it easier, grab the cable and pull up then turn the nut.
Pull up and adjust the nut clockwise for tighting the cable.
To engage closer to the floor would be loosening it, but doing this also does not dis-engage the clutch all the way and you might grind going into the gears.
You should have about an 1/8" to 1/4" play when you pull up on the cable lightly.
What I do is give the adjusting nut two turns and try it, then go two more if needed and so on.

yeah what he said. i have my clutch so it engages pretty much right off the floor, thats how i like it but i also grind gears every once in a while if i'm not careful. what i don't get though is do adjust the clutch so it competely disengages every time you have to have it so it grabs at least half way up the pedal stroke and i find it very hard to start off like this, it completely irritates the hell out of me to have a clutch grab super high off the floor, i find it real hard to start off with as little gas as i could with the clutch grabbing right off the floor. anyone else know what i'm talkign about or am i crazy?
