Default tryin to help friend with ecu/swap

my friend picked up a full b16 swap for his 97 ek

i know b16's are ob2b and his ek is obd2a so the ecu wont work w/o a conversion harness correct?

i have a extra p2p ecu lying around the house that i dont even remember how i got would this be able to work with his car/swap? how can i tell what obd it is? the stamp on it is 37820-p2p-a83

no, not all b16's are obd2. mine is obd1, from the factory. then there is the generation before mine which is obd0. find out what year the motor is from so we can better assist you. (look above the exhaust manifold for the year).

if your ecu is from the same year (obd2a) then yes if not then no. unfortunetly the part number you posted i really don't know what year that's from.

what you can do is look through this site:
http://www.thehondapartsstore.com/

and type the part number in to see what year it's from, or search the car and year and see what comes out.
