Default D16y8 intake mani on D16y7

alright so im half-way done with the swap but ran into a few problems, just one sensor dosnt match up (male and female parts are different) and also kinda lost on vacum/coolant lines. I've searched for a write up but found nothing. also my hatch is a 99 will any d16y8 manifold work 1996-2000? thanks...

Use the y7 throttle body use the 3-wire iacv on it. Keep the y8 throttle body with the 2-wire plugged up on the back of the manifold.

No. Use your old y7 throttle body. The iacv is on the old throttle body. The iacv on the y8 manifold will not work on your sertup, but leave it bolted on the back of the manifold anyway.

alright, i got the tb situation all figured out, but im like 99% sure i need a new throttle cable. is this true? the car runs now but it runnin super ruogh with a CEL. and liquid is coming out of the exhaust. does this sound like i have some vacum/coolant lines wrong?

it's possible that you could have some lines switched... the coolant lines should go into the iacv (two there), and then one more near the dist. on the manifold flange. this is a heater hose size (3/4 in). there is a small vac line for the fuel pressure regulator, one for the brake booster (the biggest), one for the evac solenoid (this is the thing with a wire connecter and a second hose going to the charcoal canister), there is one more i think...the one that goes to the black box on the back of the block under the manifold (PCV hose).

i did the same swap and had a funny idle problem, turns out the y8 TB gasket won't work in this case. gotta reuse your y7 gasket. make sure you have your map sensor and TPS plugged in to the right place (the three pin connector for the iacv is paired with the TPS connector on the harness...the map sensor is paired with the intake temp sensor)

other than this be sure all of your nuts and bolts are good and tight, and you have no vaccum leaks (you can do this by spraying brake cleaner or carb cleaner around your manifold...if the idle goes up then you have a leak somewhere)

i think i covered the common problems. i hope your's is common.

oh, yeah, you can use your throttle cable...you just have to route it a bit different. the only difference is that the y7 is a bit longer

yeah, it really shows improvement in the 4500 rpm and up. i also have the 99-00 ex exhaust mani on there too so that makes a difference. it was well worth the swap

What intake manifold did you get, Manual or Auto? Pick up a Y8 throttle cable and pick up an Auto y8 throttle body and everything works perfect.

hey danny, ill stop over after work again, heard you had a coolant leak issue. im guessing gasket or hose leaking.

The throttle cable was too short from the y8 throttle bracket to the tb bellcrank.. We used the y8 tb bell crank and got it too work fine.

Sorry for bringing this up from the grave. I was curious is that the same thing with the y5 intake manifold. Cause i aquired one and it has an EGR valve that i might just take off and make up a plate to cover the hole
