Default Normally I dont do this but...

Well i've usually only had good experiences with police...untill this morning.

Last night I went to a girls house spent the night, woke up about 7am went to leave found my bike laying over. I figured someone kick/pushed it over ( we have a problem with that in our area). So I picked up up the upper fairing is cracked, side fairing scratched, rear set and break pedal broke, exhaust is scratched. So I called the police so I can claim it on insurance. He gets there right away hes kinda a *****, but I was like ok whatever and just left it at that. Then he asks for my registration and insurance. I didnt have it on me (I usually dont carry it around) So I told him I dont carry it and that last time I got pulled over the cop didnt care and said it wasnt a big deal. So he goes to his car checks everything out on my license, turns up ok. Comes back and ****** writes me a ticket for not having insurance documents and registration. I have all of that stuff, I just cant believe he wrote a ticket for it, then he sees my bike isnt inspected (which is my fault cant get mad at him) And then he write me another ticket for not having it inspected.

I just cant believe that I call the police for help and all he ended up doing was writing me tickets. I've been pulled over a lot and never really ran into a dick officer, usually all been nice and poliet esp. if you are with them. So now I have to pay for them and the bike. But I am fighting the insurance/registration because it is insured and registered.

Damn, that sucks to hear. You get your bike damaged for no reason (unless the girl has a boyfriend you don't know about) and then some tickets on top. The Man

why would you have to have the insurance and registration on you if you werent riding it? Fight that ticket. the inspection though, maybe you can fight it since you werent operating the bike? good luck, sorry to here about it getting pushed over

You don't have to carry proof of insurance/registration on your person unless the vehicle is being operated.... he came to where the bike was parked, you weren't operating it. I think you can get them thrown out.

alls i have to say is there is one cop like his can ruin it for tons of other cops out there that arent total douche bags. i swear cops would have an easier time doing their job if they didnt have guys like this on the force. we wouldnt be so damned against them if we didnt truly think they were out to get us like this ******** was.

but all your tickets should get thrown out. except the inspection sticker, thats your bust.

Are you kidding? Thats why people become cops...so that they can abuse the power they never had in their life. I knew guys from my highschool who went on to become cops and they were LOSERS. I am sure they did it because they NEVER got any respect in life and they wanted someone to respect them, so they became 'authority figures". Absolute bullshit....

I may have turned into a gear **** but I still say Fawk the police.

Some cops are cool and some leo's are dicks. Just like you and me. Don't generalize all cops into one catagory. A few of my buddies are cops and they're all cool as **** and they tell me about other guys on the force that they can't stand. There's a bunch of loner cops that don't get along with the rest of them.

personally I don't see any abuse of power in this story, however he wasn't exactly compassionate about your plight... Have the tickets dismissed.

thats true, but most of the guys who go into it do it because of that reason, their not like firemen who do it because they are saving lives..in fact cops are the least likely to save a life in the event of a emergency, i imagine they would be looking to hand out tickets before they would worry about people in danger....

you werent operating the vehicle... thats like getting a ticket for having a car in your driveway without insurance...
and as long as you werent riding it when he got there, there is no reason to have it inspected... for all he knows it just sits in the driveway.
you should be able to get this thrown out

Actually, that's not true. If the vehicle is registered (eg - it has legal plates on it) it MUST be insured and inspected. The only way to avoid those requirements is to not have the vehicle registered . The hitch that I alluded to earlier is that you don't have to carry the paperwork certifying that both those requirements are met unless you're operating said vehicle.

And seriously, don't make generalizations about cops.

sometimes I agree with him...

usually I have no problems with the police though. Last year I got put into the back of a troopers car because he thought I was the rider that had ran from him earlier that night. I had him call my g/f (who I was with) and he still didn't believe me. "I still think you're full of ****" he said...

Somebody had something like this quoted in their sig a while back from an ht member:

"firemen are there to help, paramedics are there to help, the police are ther just to give you a hard time" well something like that. some of the time I agree with it.

it's really your fault, the cops are just doing their job. But i guess today you are having a really unlucky day.

Probably not for every cop, but for a few it could be.... don't you think?

I dont think Mike should have been treated the he was by that cop. He was there to get an accident report, not write him a ticket.

Edit for grammar mistake.

debatable, if they wanted to help people they would have became doctors or something in the service industry, or any number of career paths, but then again, they generally don't have the IQ to get into those industries either.

Lets settle it with cops are just cops..hows that? make ya feel better?

We could sit here and argue about cops till you get blue in the face, cause frankly I could careless but lets save you some stress and just drop it.

The OP posted because he was unfairly treated for reporting a crime and rewarded with a few nice little fines... which is not suprising in the least.

i dont even see why you are so against police...hell im suprised because you are from canada, the only thing you need to worry about are polar bears and your igloos...man, i thought you had police that only ride on horses, so man you can just do a wheelie right past them...you would never have to see a cop in your life...

maybe the horses pooped in your lawn? idk...

nope; not a cop, yet...a generalization/joke has nothing to do with a person's IQ...it's ok, im not blue in the face...it's just rather pathetic that you think all cops are there to be ******** when it's not the case...yes, there are a bunch of bad apples, but don't group them in with the people who saved other peoples' lives...
