Bad thing - SOHC, low HP, 5 speed manual
Good thing - good gas milage, probably lower insurance rates
It really depends on if you plan on modding it or not. What are your plans with the car?

The LX is a nice car. Single Cam,real good on gas, everyone seems to say its slow and has low HP but im not sure if they have ever driven one or not? My freind has an 06 DX with a custom catback exhaust, intake, spring, other little modifications and ran 15.6 at the track. The engine defintly has plenty of potential. I think once companys start making more parts for the car people will relize(sp) the engine really isnt that bad.
you know an ex with navi is just about the same price as an si with no navi...i would save up a few more grand and go si...you wont be happy to settle if the si is really what you want
the lx fit my budget very well and i wouldn't trade it for anything else. don't care about a sunroof or navi, and don't plan on modding it! and i still get 30+mpg and can go about 3-4 weeks on a tank of gas with just putting around town! but if you want to mod it and want a sunroof, navi, etc. then save up and go for the si!
all i did was buy some si wheels to get rid of those stupid looking hubcaps though

i have a civic lx and i like it alot.eventually you will be able to do as many mods on a coupe as the si and you will save a lot of money in the long run. (gas, insurance, price paid for car) with that 5k savings on just the car alome you could boost it or add other performance parts to out do the si. but if you have the money then i would go with the si
if it is barely affordable, you don't have enough money for the car. just get a beater and save your hard earn cash.
My monthly payment for my 06 DX is $150
+ $115 insurance with progressive.

$115 per month for insurance? You ought to shop around. I pay less than half that amount.
To answer the OP's question, I would say Yes, the LX is worth getting. I looked into getting an Si but I decided to go for an LX because I desired a car that could get 40mpg, and the LX isn't as slow as you'd expect. Just test drive it.
It all depends on what you prioritize. Performance VS Functionality.

it depends more on where you live than anything but driving experience is required too for a low insurance...also how safe the car is etc...
I'm paying around 300 a month for premium coverage but that's because coupe's are more expensive to insurance and i'm in good old new york city.

that's because you live in OK where there are thieves but the rate of getting ur car stolen is from 0.00001% to 1%
while in NYC and other populated areas which would be california, texas, etc...the odds of getting a new car stolen is greater...
