Muffler/exhaust removal
Well, I got my ITR muffler today, the b-pipe should get here later today or tomorrow... I have to go to work in a little bit, so I was just going to put on the ITR muffler real quick, but I ran into a problem... how the hell do you remove those nuts with the springs on them!? Those things like refused to turn, and every time I pushed on it, the entire exahust system moved and most of the force I was applying was asorbed by that.
I'm thinking I'll just wait until the b-pipe gets here and then do everything at once (or be lazy and just go across the street to Midas). But, I still need to know how to get those bolts off so I can seperate my stock muffler and b-pipe. Thanks!

Get two wrenches, one for the bolt, one for the nut. Also, get some of that spray that loosens up rusted and siezed bolts. Also, don't force it, just use a bigger wrench
Spray it down with penetrant. Wait a little while. Try again. Use a longer wrench, for leverage, a breaker bar (if there's room under there), or tap the wrench with a hammer/mallet to get the bolt started.
Good luck. These methods have always worked for me.

u dont need any penetrator on spring bolts they don't get rusted like the Bpipe bolts. chances are ur just not using a tool w enuf leverage. just get a longass ratchet or breaker bar.
if you take a close look, the nuts are welded on at the b-pipe/muffler connection. all you need to do is turn the bolt with the spring on it and it will come right out.

Ok, I'll give that another try... I mostly just wanted to make sure there wasn't something special I had to do for those springs. I'll probably just take the stock b-pipe and muffler off the car together and then seperate them; that way seems a lot easier. Now if UPS would just deliver my ITR b-pipe... It's been "out for delivery" since 6:30am and it's now 8:30pm. I don't think I'll see it tonight.
Does UPS do something different for delivering large awkward packages like that?

to get my muffler off...
I put a wrench on there... almost broke my arm trying to break the bolt loose...
got mad, and beat the wrench with a hammer.
It worked wonderfully.
