Default exhaust hitting swaybar

Has any one else had a problem with there exhaust vibrating against there ST rear swaybar? I normally notice the vibration when I take my foot off the gas and start braking. Is there any way to make it so that it won't vibrate? I know I could get a new piece of piping bent but is there any other way?

The car is a 90 crx si.

Thanks for the help.

its a typical problem with ST rear swaybar.

ppl have reduced the knocks by bending the hangers for more room, and make the rubber hangers tighter and adding some padding.

I added a spacer plate between the bar bracket and body to lower the bar around a quarter inch. Thermal exhaust.

what is the padding made out of? What do you do to make the hangers tighter?

use zip ties to tighten up the rubbers.

and bend the hangers a bit.

use any kind of padding, preferably heat resistant...

You can also use hose clamps around the rubber.

You can make a little bumper out of GE Silicone II caulk. It comes in black at Home Depot for about $5 a tube...good for up to 400 degrees.

Black Silicone has MANY uses on cars.

PROTIP: Use an ice cube held with some pliers to smooth and shape your silicone... its extremely sticky stuff.

Thanks for the tip.Yeah I used silicone in my motor mounts and did not wear gloves and I had it all over my hand for a couple days. Do you just put a whole bunch of silicone on the exhaust pipe and then just shape it? Seems like it would be hard to do under a car. I was thinking of making like a 1'' square of silicone and before the silicone sets I would stick some metal pieces in the square of silicone so that I could then mount the silicone on the exhaust pipe. How did you do it????

I wish I had that option with my exhaust.

I used part of a radiator hose to go over the swaybar and cable tied it on, works great!

I might do this over the silicone. It will be easier and won't be messy. Do you know at what temp a radiator hose melts?

Not a clue, but its apparently higher than what my exhaust ever reaches, and I've been to some track events so it gets rather hot.

I got a piece of radiator hose and zip tied it on. The radiator hose is wrapped in like a soft arm cast material. Should I be worried about the radiator hose catching fire b/c the exhaust is really close if not is resting on the radiator hose?

On the outside of the hose is a material that looks like an ace bandage. I didn't wrap it in ace bandage. The radiator hose on my crx do not have this "ace bandage" wrap around them and I was wondering if the " ace bandage" stuff could cause a problem?

I have the same problem and its annoying. When I had my hks exhaust on my hatch I didn't have this problem, but since I switched to a custom 2.5" exhuast it rubs my ST rear bar. I used zip ties and I even used the muffler wrap stuff and it still vibrates. I got a few ideas though from you guys and I'm going to try them out.
I would worry about the radiator melting, your exhaust shouldn't be that hot to melt a radiator hose. Just think how hot coolant gets inside the hose.......

I'm worried about the wrap that is on the radiator hose. Should I got buy a new piece of hose without the wrap?

It's an easy fix...take a piece of hose about the same ID as the bar about 1.5" long, slit it lengthwise and wrap it around the sway bar. I coat the inside of mine with some RTV and positioned it with a couple tie wraps until the RTV setup. Problem gone...no more buzz!
