2007 SI versus EX ??
Just wondering if the board members think that the si is reallly that much MORE fun than the ex, both with manual tranmissions, considering the following:
- si is more difficult to find
- si buyers often pay a premium
- si requires premium fuel
Don't get me wrong. I think the si is great!
It's only that it seems like I may be able to get nearly as much enjoyment from the ex with the 5 speed tranny as with the 6 speed si.
Please comment.

Si's are better. Depends on what your goals are with the car. This has been discussed in several other threads. Please search around and you will see what everyone else says.
i have a DX 5 speed. same hp as the EX. this car freakin boring! 1st gear is pretty quick and 2nd is okay but after that its like a turtle. i also owned a 95 DX and it had like 100hp and it feels like its as slow as the EX. go with the SI man. more potential. 6 speed. LSD. but im not sure if the EX got LSD. but Si all the way.

NO WAY IN HELL. The EX isn't a fun car. I don't care who says what. It's more for getting better mpg, paying less for fuel and paying less in insurance premiums.
If you're looking for fun you'd better go with the Si. If you're looking to save money, go with the EX.
I wanted an Si when I bought my car but I needed a car within a week and NO ONE had SI's in my area at the time. I'm kinda "happy" I didn't get one though seeing as I have more than 12,000 miles on my car in less than 6 months with a rock chipped bumper to prove it.

Yea, I have an 06 LX, and I just can't say I love it, so i'm gonna try to trade it in for an Si in about a year. I got rushed into buying it when I was saving up for an Si, sucks. Patience pays off!
I'm starting to wonder if every 5th thread on the Mustang forums is someone comparing the base V6 model to the GT?
If you even have to ask if the Si is that much better, you're probably better off getting an EX, and leaving the Si to be purchased by someone who can appreciate the difference. Drive both (if you get the opportunity) and understand.

I have an Si and an EX so I'll leave my opinion on both.
The Si is much more performance oriented, Much more hp, 6speed, LSD, bigger brakes, more aggressive suspension and better seats. It is a bit more for insurance and does take premium gas, but it only cost about $5 CDN more for a full tank. The RR colour gets lots of looks and I don't think I'll get bored with it anytime soon. Even bone stock, it is still an excellent performing car that you could live with everyday without modifying.
The EX Coupe I have looks very similar to the Si and it has the same creature comforts (stereo,power options, roof, etc). It's obviously not as fast and it doesn't hanlde or brake as good, but it still does a decent job. Better on gas and cheaper to fill and insure. It makes an excellent daily driver and is a perfectly good choice if you really don't need the performance of the Si.
The EX was a fun car to drive until I got my Si. Now the EX feels boring to drive in comparison.
For me...
Si=weekend warrior
EX=grocery getter
Take you pick.

I duno how many times this has been stated, but im going to say it again...
Full tank Regular Unleaded is only about 3-4 bucks cheaper than Premium... Unless you burn a tank of gas a day, you will not notice it.

actually around here premium came out to be 2 bucks more than regular in my old ex...dont know if it would be the same in the si, but i think they have the same size tanks...and insurance for me was only going to go up $10 a month versus my old ex...so nothing but the payment really went up...and like i said before technically...an 06 ex with navi is about the same price (a few hundred dollars difference) than an 06 si without navi.

They may be able to do that but they still cost substantially more and guzzle entirely too much gas

if you're talking about money wise, anyone can get a clean looking DC2, turbo it and installed a JDM front end for less half the price of an new SI. Lets see who will stomp on who. Anyways, either way if the guy gets an si or ex, it's still JUST a civic. Don't get me wrong, it's a great car if you want to save on gas, but it ain't a car you want to brag about nor showoff.

Let's see any of them keep up with the Si on a windy road or just any offramp
