Default just replaced H23, CEL 23 and car is GUZZLING gas

so my knock sensor is throwing codes. is that bad? i know some of you run chipped ECU's and all that, but does the sensor have a purpose? other than the connection/sensor being bad, its throwing a code for a reason, any ideas?

also, when i finished the swap, car had half a tank of 93 (next lowest is 89). i drove 80 miles that day, and the tank is gone. i dont know if there might be a leak where fuel line connects to rail, ill check, but if not that then anyone have any ideas? it freaked me out, it went so fast.

The knock sensor will make ur car hesitate in lower rpms and be really annoying, but I don't know if it will make u get bad gas mileage. The knock sensor will retard ur timing. My bet would be to get it replaced. Does the engine bay smell like gas when ur done driving?

You may have damaged the wire during the swap, you will need an oscilloscope and a hammer to find out, you will need a scanner with date parameters or a scope to monitor the O2 Sensor, is it in fuel control. What is the MAP Sensor voltage going back to the computer, just a volt meter will be good for that test.

they are very fragive, ususaly break during shipping a motor or during swaps.. just replace the knock sensor and check that wires are all good

I also replaced my h23 and noticed a big difference in gas milage. I think I'd be better off driving a V8! Oh and am still getting a code but mine is the TPS.

yea my gas mileage is GONE. but, i've been smelling gas, especially after hard acceleration. you know where the fuel line connects to the rail? how it has that bolt on top? i dont remember if that had a washer on it, if so might that be a possible source of leak?

so yes, i HAVE been smelling gas, slight smell. i need ideas on what to look at
