Default really bad day with my beloved ej1

well i dont know it might be a really bad string of luck but everything just seemed to go wrong today. my ej1 has stayed pretty sensibly consistent these past 2 and a half years. but what happened today was ridiculouse

back in february, i ran into a ford expedition becuase it was making an illegal straight pass, and my front end was bent in a little. but it didnt seem lik eany radiator damage was taken. i decided to slowly work on the car myself, get the support and sidewalls pulled out by a shop, and paint it myself. it's august and i'm still on body work, yea i know, im sorry, im a busy man

today, i start my car, up my friend, pretty normal, then out of no where, my speedometer jumps up and down and then poops on me. after that, another mile later, my check engine light goes on. and when i parked, i popped the hood and checked what was wrong. coolant was everywhere, my reservoir was still at mid level, but coolant was all over my valve cover, heat shield, intake, and everything in between. i dont know it was a crack, or a hose break or what

so then i go to the beach with my friends as planned, and i dont take my car for obvious reasons. when we come back about 12 hours later, i try to open my hood to check the fluid level and to see if anything else went wrong. i pull the hood latch, and the thing doesnt pop. the latch is just pulling all slack from the line and it doesnt pull the latch. so i get on the flor to check if my coolant was all over the floor, and it's dry so i just hit it back home

any advice guys?

that code may be for vss. it may have gotten coolant on the connection.

i would obviously replace the radiator, but as far as the hood popper goes, i think the cable runs near the fender and you can get to it by pulling the fender lining.

im not too sure tho, bump for some help for you tho

once you get the hood open check the top of the radiator for hair line cracks. you can use a coolant pressure tester or just run the car until it gets up to normal temp. Then start looking for leaks. It is not uncommon for the plastic radiator end caps to crack

Our radiators break all the time. It's not uncommon - like instructor74 said - for the plastic end tanks to fracture and spew coolant everywhere. It's happened to me on many more than one occasion

check the #15 fuse under the dash it controls VSS, O2 sensors if they got coolant in any of them it is the first to go.

i've been at my hood latch for the past hour and i'm getting no where with it. i really dont know why there is so much slack in my line, unless if it literally snapped. Any other suggestions for my hood guys?

i think the coolant issue was from over fill. I checked it today and it was a little over the max line. I think i was looking at a shadow the other day, i really need to clean that reservoir up

i ran the car around a few times and the check engine light does not turn on anymore. so now how do i fix my speedometer problem?
