d16z6 rebuild
hello everyone~! ive got a d16z6 that i got from one of my auto teachers.
this motor has been siting out side in the rain and there as no spark plugs so the cylanders got water in there. so they need to be honed. i beleave the motor only had about 80 to 90k miles on it before it broke down.
now this is my question for you master engine builders!
this engine sufferd a bent valve. i think he said it was from the v-tec silinoed (sorry about the spelling
. went out or the timing belt broke. now would you guys think this engine is worth rebuilding matter the fact the damage that my have happend? i look at the top of the pistons and it looks like there's no damage from a valve hiting them.
i might be taking it to the mechine shop tomarrow to be honed and hot dunked.
after that i was going to buy new rings, main bearings, rod bearings and a hole new seal set for the block. depending on your guys veiw or idea's.
i have the block, pistons, rods crank, head, valves, valve springs but no roller rockers or cam.
what do you guys think i should do? any veiws or idea's are greatly appresiated.

The first thing you should do is pull the head and disassemble the block.
I'd go with a .020"/.5mm over-bore just to be on the safe side. Odds are that you've got more than a little rust in there. If there's rust you stand a good chance of having rusted valves, too. Might as well plan on replacing all of them with a nice set of aftermarket valves.
You won't find roller rockers for a D-Series, so if you need rocker arms you'll have to get those line bored with the head.
Cam, might as well buy an aftermarket cam and valve train while you're at it.
All in all, you've found the perfect motor for a complete build. Probably not the best choice if you want to refresh a motor and drop it in, though.
