Well Ive had my hatch for over 3 years now and its NEVER had a radio in it, and ironically i love music and QUALITY car stereo. Im turning it back into my daily driver and am ready to put a small system in it that will do what i want out of it.
The setup will be:
Alpine 7977 head unit
Arc audio xxk2100
Alpine spx-177r
my question is how much sound deadening do you think is necessary? I can get a roll of this stuff (which seems to be good stuff from what ive heard) http://www.raamaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?p=pr
62 sq ft total
Where would you put it? im assuming on the door frames by the components, and possibly on the floorboard? just looking for some insight on where its going to help the most.
I plan to do a single 10" SQ oriented sub as well, maybe an ARC or sound splinter and running under 400W to it as well.
thanks for the help, as i dont know as much about audio as i do going fast

ahh the joys of sounddeadening. While there are many brands on the market (and one person actually has a great write up on the various offerings...do a search, very informative). Do your homework. Now I'm gonna say stick with Dynamat. Yes its hella exspensive, but it does do its job and does it very well.
I have used off brands and some supposed cheaper stuff that peeps have bought online-with few exceptions,I had to work2X as hard to secure and mold and in some cases use 4x the material to equal the level of the DYNAMAT application it was 'supposed' to be" just as good as"
Thats my take on it

On your car i would do the doors. back hatch, around the trunk, back seats and driver and passenger pannels. Thats were I seen the most noice on your car.
If money allows and you want the quitest car hit the roof, firewall and floor of the car. But I don't think it would be nessecary
