how are they different? as far as i know the only thing different is the style of intake manifold on how its position downward instead of upward like the b16/ type r's

There are differences, but they arent "totally different." Interchangeable cams, valvetrain, valves, etc. The differences are the GSR's upside down intake manifold, and that the GSR casting yeilds a smaller combustion chamber. But because they can bolt onto the same blocks, I would think that the gaskets are the same.
