I need advice on my next build- D-motor
I want to drop a D16 motor in my EK hatch. My goals are mid 13s or lower. I really dont know anything about F.I, what is needed for a good setup. I have that D16 blocks have really strong sleeves and thicker rods than Bmotors, true?
D16 are pretty cheap, 300-500 for a full swap. can someone point in the right direction of what i should be reseaching and etc.. my plan was buy a block and replace things like the water pump, gaskets etc.
I wanted to do all the "pre-work" first. like get the gauges, boost control , etc. bigger exhaust, whats a stuff is needed and wat is best?
-is d15 or d16 block better for turbo?
-whats the big differcne between all these diff mainfolds, ram log etc?
- whats a good CR for a FI motor, 10.3?
Z6 /Z6 Block - 9.13:1
Z6 /y8 Block - 9.21:1
Z6 /A6 Block - 9.95:1
Z6 / D15 - 10.10:1
Z6 / Y7 - 9.62:1
Y8 / Z6 - 9.45:1
Y8 / Y8 - 9.61:1
Y8 / A6 - 10.33:1
Y8 / D15 - 10.52:1
Y8 / Y7 - 9.96:1
try posting in the FI forum. and d series rods are like tothpicks, only good up to 200 give or take. you want a lower comp for turbo, like 9:1, z6 seems to be the fav around here for boosting.

your wrong, people are putting down those numbers, N/A, for the same price as a b swap.

A swap to make those numbers would be cheaper & easier than fixing up a D-series to do that.

Most of the information you're looking for is already available in other threads. If you can't find exactly what you're looking for, try researching a little, narrowing down your questions, and asking in the forced induction section, or any section that directly pertains to your question. Right now it seems like you have a lot of info to take in and digest. Fast Honda's are a very broad subject. Good luck with the build.

y6? do you mean z6? If so, the z6 is better in the sense that it flows more.

the main difference is that y7 is non-vtec and y8 is vtec.
