Default poppin noise when i turn

i have a 94 hatch w/94 gsr swap n i notice that every time i turn pretty sharp a poppin noise can be heard. dont think its a cv shaft b/c ive had that problem before n this time it just pops once instead of continiously like it did when the cv shaft was broken. ne suggestions? thanks.

it could be your steering rack cuz i had the same problem and that's what it was. either that or your outer tie rods. hope this helps.

gonna say, first check the easy and obvious, cv boots to be ripped? if so, most likey the problem, like stated, also check the ball joints, they can very well do that, if the chassis has a lot of miles on it very well may be the problem

if it pops once when you turn and doesn't continue to pop then it's not CV joints... does it make a similar noise when you go over speed bumps? if it does you may want to check your swaybar bushings/links. when the rubber bushing wears out, which it does often, it will crack and fall off...metal to metal...pop! it could also be a loose bolt somewhere on your suspension... really it's hard to guess right without hearing the noise first-hand, but i would def. have the front susp. checked before spending any money on axles

to check the upper ball joints without a lift... roll a jack under the lower control arm and jack it up untill the tire is off of the ground. then have a friend hold a flashligh and look at the ball joint as you put back and forth pressure on the top and bottom of the tire. if the ball joint has any perceivable play in it, it's bad... and while you have it up you may as well check the tierod ends... hold the tire on the sides and "lightly" move side to side, if you can feel the play in the joint, it's bad. enjoy
