It's a little over 4 quarts (I'm at work now and don't have the exact capacity, but it can be found in the owner's manual). When doing an oil change, I normally fill it with four, and then add a little at a time while checking the dipstick to ensure the correct amount.

The spec in the manuals is 4.0 quarts for the B18B1 engine (Integra LS, RS, GS) and 4.2 quarts for the B18C1 (GS-R) and B18C5 (Type R).

5W30 is preferred at all temperatures; 10W30 is also acceptable at temperatures over 20 degrees F.

We use synthetic 5W30 (either Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum) in our '94 GS-R and '01 ITR.

Wal-Mart sells oil cheaper than Sam's Club or Costco. At Wal-Mart, Mobil 1 is $5.47 for a quart and $21.97 for a 5-quart jug; Pennzoil Platinum is $3.99 for a quart and $18.97 for a 5-quart jug. You can get a $15 MasterCard gift card on the purchase of six quarts of Pennzoil Platinum.

Oops. I read too quickly and automatically saw "B18C".

I always put in exactly 4 quarts when I do an oil change, and my oil level is always a little above the upper hole on the dipstick, even after starting it (to get oil into the filter) and waiting awhile, and even after letting it drain for at least 10 minutes (hot engine).

My experience with the GS-R is similar. I just had the GS-R in for major service. I gave them exactly 4.2 quarts to use for the oil change. Afterwards, the dipstick reading was 1/4 quart high.

Wrong.

The GS-R and ITR both take 4.0-4.2 quarts for an oil and filter change. Put in 5.1 and it will be overfilled by a quart, and you'll risk foaming.

I think not.

From the Helm:
B18C1/B18C5 oil change + filter: 4.2 US Qt.
B18C1/B18C5 oil change only: 3.9 US Qt.
B18C1/B18C5 engine overhaul: 5.1 US Qt.
B18B1 oil change + filter: 4.0 US Qt.
B18B1 oil change only: 3.7 US Qt.
B18B1 engine overhaul: 4.9 US Qt.

99.5% chance that I am taller than you.

He already stated that the information was quoted from the Helm manual, though the same specs can be found in the Integra owner's manual.

Why is 5.1quart for a rebuilt engine. Don't they use the same size oil pan?

Probably because you'll never get all the oil out of the engine just draining it through the oil pan drain hole. When you rebuild an engine, most likely all the oil from all the little passageways and everything will be out of there before you put it back together.

YOu know guys.. I've been wondering something. When I change my oil, I put in 4 qts. And then add a little bit at a time untill it's at the top hole. And then it's all fine and dandy. But I drove around with it for a few days... and when i checked it this morning it was a ABOVE the top dot. I'm aware of the problems this may cause, but can someone help me out with this? I have a 96 SIR-G JDM. Thanks in advance
