Default blew motor today... need a swap ASAP...

After ordering my **** through password jdm, I had no choice but to cancel my order.. My engine finally blew today on my way back from cousins in Woodbridge, Va... It was quite strange... I hadnt raged on it all weekend, was driving and all of a sudden my car fills up with smoke.. I look back in rear view and see nothing but smoke, so much I cant even see the car right behind me.... I knew if I stopped right away I would be stuck so I drove about a quarter mile further, if not longer, lol, to a stop light where once I stopped, the car shut off and had to be pushed across the street to a bank parking lot... Anyways, I got my car towed back to my house.... Now, I have no time to bullshit and play games, and I am open to all suggestions, as tomorrow I am going to Nullians in Manassas, Va to choose my entire engine swap... But hey, anything is better than a d series =P So, I have came up with a few things Id like...

1. B16B -> Civic Type R, always wanted one so I could turn my hatch into a Type R...

2. B18C5 -> Integra Type R, great hp/torque for what it is, however due to the crazy high compression, dont know how boost happy it would be =X Applies to the B16B as well...

3. GSR -> Only 1 kid around me has the swap, runs like a champ, currently the fastest hatch around here....

4. B16A -> Everyone and there mom around here has one, cheapest swap available and decent hp for the price... However, I personally would probably shoot myself if my grandparents were this cheap and made me get it...

So, in conclusion, its really between the B16B and the B18C5.... Also, was looking at a H22A swap...

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...30017

^^ The H22A swap... Great hp, 220.. Dunno about torque... Have heard some pretty negative things regarding the B20 and H series... Mainly that the B20's were easy to blow up and with the weight diplacement of the H series motor, can cause alot of understeer... Anyways, Im not here to argue with anyone... Its' 1:05 AM here and as soon as I wake up today around 11, I am going to the warehouse and getting something... So any knowledge and help would be greatly appreciated... If you would like to talk to me over AIM, please feel free to do so, my AIM is ArtificialAimer... Thanks guys!

get a GSR and boost it, WAY more power then you'll ever need on the street. money an issue? get a Z6 if you have a EG or a Y8 if you have an EK and bosst it. you'll rape the GSR swapped "kid" and it will have cost you half what it cost him.

Awesome dudes, thanks for the quick replies... I have a 94' EG hatchback.. I paid 4k for it, had the car under a month and the stock motor blew... Body has 205k miles... I am a little weary with H series swaps, I know someone who did a non vtec h23 with a h22 tranny which was the fastest car around here until be blew it up a few months back... Anyways, suggestions please please please... In about 8 hours I will be in a warehouse the size of wal mart full of Honda engine swaps <3 Also, I noticed the H22A has 220hp... However, it does cost about 500 more than a GSR swap.. No worries on the prices... But, The B16B/B18C5 have the TypeR Cams/Shafts and ported/polished from the factory.. However, due to there higher compression, I heard they are left best without forced induction... Which isnt a problem, because honestly, not that theres anything wrong with a Turbo/Supercharger, I dont want an unreliable car, not that they cant be done right, but I only have 5k to play with... So, its not as if I have an infinite ammount of money to blow =P Also, a friend I know who lives in Falls Church, Va currently wrecked into a semi truck after pulling out infront of him on I-95, his pay off is only 4k and told me I could take his entire car for that... However, after reading up the site for a while, there isnt much information on the K series swap, and my "dream" persay is to make this hatch into a TypeR... So, I am pretty sure I will be getting a B16B tomorrow... But, as I said, I will listen to all suggestions, as I am not as knowledgeable as any of the people on the forums and dont want to pretend to be... So, if theres anything you guys want to suggest, please let me know.. And, no, money isnt an issue, I alone have saved up 5k in the past few months, and have a 2004 Raptor I am selling this week, so I will have around 8K to play with total... My grandparents are going to spot me the other 3-4k... So, I figured alone, without there help, I can afford my B16B or the B18C5... With the 500-1k left over, get a good set of headers/intake... Use the other 3k they have and buy a dart head.... Then, I will probably have around 1.5-2k left, get a ACT stage 2 clutch, now I am left with around 1k... Get a good full exhaust, as where I live we dont have emissions After that, I already have springs on my car as is, eibach or whatever they are =P Dont laugh =P I am going to save up for either Tein coilovers from there or Spoons... Anyways, thats my plan for this comming week.. I will keep you all informed and take many pics... But, as stated, please help me =P My head keeps wondering around everywhere =P All day today Ive sat here and thought about every possible swap and there ups/downs... From build D series to frankenstein swaps =P Anyways, thanks again guys... Id really like to talk to someone about this also, so just read up and get my AIM...

they didn't make a type R in 94

get the gsr thats enough power for a dd and not as much compression as the type r so if you want to boost later on..

Well, yes I relize that there was no Civic TypeR then, but it will fit my car, and I am a TypeR freak tbh =P Anyways, I dont want to go with any forced induction... Thats the main reason why I keep bouncing back from the B16B and the B18C5... A GSR full swap from the place I am going to tomorrow will run me $3200... For $800 more I can have a B16B... 1.5k more I can get a B18C5... The main reason I want to go with a TypeR motor swap to begin with is bc the shafts/cams are already done... Ported/Polished from the factory and all that good stuff.. So, I relize it is a steep price indeed and even I have a hard time putting my hard earned money for something thats a gamble, in the long run it will be worth it... Say, I got that GSR, I would immedeatly want to put stage 2 cams in, and typer cams... Once everything would be all done, I would be looking at/if not more, the same price in the long run... If that makes sense at all.. I would rather spend the extra money and get something thats already built from the factory, then do my little additions... Anyways, again, thanks for the suggestions... Anyone else? =P

If I recall correctly, a SiRII is a B16A... There is nothing wrong with that swap, but as I said, everyone around here has that, and if I went TypeR, I would be the only person around here with that swap, and I am pretty sure I would give that kid with the GSR swapped EK a pretty decent run for the money..

Sorry for the double post, but I would like to state that my motor I have currently isnt exactly blown.. It cuts on, but when I pop my hood and watch it while its idling, it looks like a V8 lol... Anyways, Im not going to go with a D series or even waste my time rebuilding this one.. If anyone would like this engine and **** after this all said and done on Tuesday-Wednesday, you can have it, just pay me for the shipping...

Maybe stating the obvious...but you know the CTR is more than just a different motor right? Same with the ITR.

So in hindsight...a B16b itself will not make ANY car a type-r, let alone a 94 hatch.

Good luck with whatever your grandparents buy you. And work on NOT blowing this one, before you work on boosting it. And jesus christ man, learn how to seperate into paragraphs. I respect ANY person who actually read that bullshit above.

IMHO, if you're going all-motor....B20 bottom end w/ rod bolts, ITR 98+ top end and you win. more hp you say? higher compression pistons, valvetrain and a cam, and you'll be KILLING on the streets.

I know that the motor swap wont make my car a TypeR, but I would like to have it for my personal reasons... Also, about the B20, arent they really weak?? I have a few friends who said if I wanted to go with a B20 to get a Dart Racing B20 block and build it up from there.. Anyways, these "Frankenstein" swaps.. Can anyone go into detail and explain to me what exactly they are?? Thanks

uhh. yeah. i'll just give you my suggestion..

b18c5

don't waste your money on a b16b unless you're really set on having a "CTR" which either motor you choose (b16b or b18c5) its gonna be a civic.. with a type r motor.

the extra money is worth it for the added torque of the 1.8 liter.

of course if you want a torque monster pick up the h22. i have a semi-built gsr in my car and my friend has an h22 in his coupe.. ***** nasty.

Well, the 1.8 litre produces alot more power at lower rpms than the CTR/ITR from what I am assuming.. Considering there is a huge difference between 1.6 and 1.8 litre engines...

exactly. so why would you want the 1.6 motor with no torque just like all the other b16 hatches running around your area when you can have a 1.8 with more power and more torque?

So, are you saying go with a H22A or a B18C5 if it was you?? I dunno why, but I am pressed hard on the B16B considering its a CTR >< Anyways, the main reason I wanted to go with a ITR/CTR is like I sayed before, its built from the factory and all I would have to do is buy some bolt ons (intake, headers, exhaust etc.etc..)

I would stay away from the Hype-AArrr unless you like having a NA motor or a better reason to get your car stollen.
I would say GSR of some sort.

yea. i guess those would be my two choices out of the ones you gave. but just focusing on ITR vs. CTR i would most definitely go with the itr. i've seen very few cars with ctr motors and theres a reason.. its not worth the money. why pay that extra money for a 1.6 motor with sorry torque with a peppy top end when u can throw a couple hundred more have an overall better motor.

if you want to go faster than go for the b18c5. if you want the whole "CTR" hatch thing then go for the b16b. but i guarantee you eventually you'll wanna swap that 1.6 block out for a 1.8 or 2.0 when you get beat by that gsr hatch.

two of my friends were in the same dillemma as you cept b16a2 or a b18c1. one went for the the 1.6 and one for the 1.8. needless to say the 1.6 is the slowest and wants to go ls/vtec now.

i think he said he didn't want to go boost which is why i suggested the itr motor.

if you're unsure of whether you're going n/a or boost then definitely go with a gsr. you can't lose either way with it.

Well, I live in very small town and live in a secluded area where my driveway is monitored with a gate.. And my car is garage kept, so I highly doubt it would be stolen here personally at my house... I just want a ITR/CTR engine swap so I can say I have it... As for the K series, my friend wrecked his RSX TypeS and only owes 4k, to pay it off of course.. He told me if I gave him that he would use his dads truck/trailor and bring it here to my house... Anyways, just some thoughts.. Everything WILL BE DONE by Friday I am impatient and already miss my car ><

Indeed to screwballz, I am not looking for any forced induction, only bolt ons and engine internal work.. Which is why I am pressed on the CTR/ITR, considering everything engine internal wise is basically done =P

Also, is the GSR swap(he has headers which are wrapped, why I dunno lol, intake, full exhaust) really beat a CTR swap?? With the same stuff done to it??
