Default brake pad Q:

When i first got my bike it seemed like there was a good amount of brake pad, now 1000 miles later i'm almost down to the backing plate in front. how quickly are you guys going through pads?

not sure what kind of pads they are, they were installed by the previous owner.

thanks

I would just get new pads and start counting from there. It's just too difficult to guess at the life expectancy from used brake pads.

1000 miles is way too low if they were close to new.

20k on pads? That's awesome. I usually end up doing something stupid with mine like dropping brake fluid on them.

My first gixxer I got at least 20k on them, I had 3 years of riding on them, my first bike so no craziness brand new when i got the bike, put on the day i picked it up...I highly doubt my r6 or f4i pads would last that long the way i rode those bikes....=p

I blew the fork seals on my ZX-7 when i was learning to be an asshat (learning wheelies) and i got fork oil all over my front brakes and had to replace them and fork seals, lame-0...

That's ok. I can admit it. 7R's are too damn sexy. I'd get one if I can find a perfect-condition example. I might even get matching green-gear.

And then change my s/n to kermit.

kawasaki almost swayed me to buy my first non-honda vehicle in my vehicle buying life, but since i've seen F4i's for less than i've seen 636's (and more of them) i'm getting an F4i...
