EXPO information - PLEASE READ!!!
I will be blunt here...
I talked to Phil today about the Expo, and quite frankly, he, as I, am a bit concerned. Right now, we have 27-28 paid registrants, that is NO WHERE near 40. We will not have a 2-day event without 40 cars, unless someone wants to come up with the necessary funds. Our options are as follows:
1. Cut off the registration in the next day or two, and just have a 1-day event, (the cost would be $150 for the day, and no banquet, King will not be coming, etc. and the event will be run the same)
2. Come up with the needed money to cover whatever we are short on the 40 cars,
3. Get a total of 40 cars signed up within the next couple of days.
You tell me guys and gals... The forms have been out for months, we have been talking about the Expo since last year's... this just isn't going to happen on its own, the participants is what makes it happen!!!
To be honest with you, I can't bear the costs from being short on the 40 car mark, and I will not hang Phil out to dry on this, period. He has been more than generous.
NOW IS THE TIME TO SPEAK UP... EITHER ****, OR GET OFF THE POT!

I'd say dump the banquet first. Keep the second day. It would be a waste for people that have already make travel plans for a one day event. There are still some stragglers that need to GET OFF THERE ASSES My vote is to give it a few more days.

According to the Gingerman Website there is nothing at all during that week. Can't Phil keep the second day reserved and if we don't have 40 cars paid, cancel the second day??? I think the event will fill.
sending paperwork off Monday
#1 stragglers
#2 some get payed once a month and are also stragglers (like me)
just a suggestion
I'm with Mattj. Dump the banquet first and see if that helps.
C'mon people. I know it's hard to get started on filling out a form, checks, envelope, etc. But please do it. Just pick up a pen and start writing.
And hey, remember we do have some ITR ladies coming. All you leg-humping guys should be all over that right?

Agreed, dump the banquet. I will say that I personally would not want to drive for 13 hours one way for a one day event.
Come on people, get a move on!

does anyone know why we always have a problem with this? We had the same one last year, but the NSX Expo is booked like years in advance...
Im guessing its becasue since we have a cheap car compared to the NSX, we dont have as much bank... The NSX guys tend to be high level executives or at least in a high ranking managment position with the ability to take the time off...
In all fairness Im going to try and make it to Michigan this year... But it needs to be east coast for 2003... Like maybe Limerock...

I'm not sure we'll even have one in '03
should have opened it up to the non arrrrr owners sooner.....thats unfortunately what happens when you try and attract a minute niche group to a large scale event....my opinion
Okie, I'm going to chime in here...
_IF_ ITR EXPO can get 40 people signed up by the deadline, so that you guys can have the type of event you all deserve.
I will send 10 Carbotech Engineering gift certificates for 20% off list prices for raffle as door prizes (no entry fee...just show up and you have a 25% chance of winning)...limit on order use is 5 or fewer axle sets of brake pads.
On the side, I have to say that Gingerman Raceway is a wonderful facility, and South Haven is a very nice town to be in. Phil Mirenda at CGI Motorsports runs outstanding, fun, and SAFE track events. I used to instruct for Phil at Gingerman for 3 years before I moved down to Florida, and even after driving the track down here (Homestead/Miami Speedway, Moroso Motorsports Park, Sebring International Raceway), I still miss Gingerman a good deal...great learning track, IMO.
For anyone looking for a first time out on a track, and also looking to hang out with a bunch of cool guys and gals...ITR EXPO is a great opportunity. I was planning to pop in on a surprise visit, but I have business plans already down here in Florida...

If we cancel the banquet, do we still need 40 cars to get the Expo to run??
Is any other group we can get them interest to go? Like NSX club, WRX club...etc
I don't know what can I do to help out.......but I know we better do it now if we want to contact some other ppl to go.
Also, is camping a for sure thing? What is the extra cost to use the camping area? Also how about a head count on people wanting to camp?
Dave & I will be camping.
I know the NC crew wants to camp.

This is a response back already from a good friend of mine that drives a Porsche 993 Carrera with full Euro spec RSR suspension package. We run the same lap times at the track, he was upset "jokingly" that I was running with him.
"Unfortunately I don't qualify for a MID 1.3x s lap time, unless something breaks or I fall asleep at the wheel that is, so will have to excuse myself ;-)
Besides which, getting my *** kicked by a bunch of buzzy sounding franken-cars would ruin my whole summer ................"

For arguments sake, lets say we only get 30 cars. How much more needs to be contributed to have a second day of driving if we do not have the banquet?

As a side note, I had a few individuals that really wanted to come to the event with non ITR's that contacted me, and we worked something out, and they stayed informed as to how many cars we had roughly, and when the date was to open the event... I really don't see the validity in your statement.
I called Phil and asked him to figure what we needed if we got rid of the banquet... I will post something as soon as I hear it.
