Ideas on how to launch at the track on stock tires?
I have the stock all season tires on the car and am wondering how I should launch the car. My last outing the car was just hoping through first gear. Should I lower the tire pressure any? How should I launch the car and not hop? What is a good rpm to launch at? I have Hondata and whenever I launch to high the car bogs. I still need to get the hondata upgrade to help elminate most of that bog in first gear, as I got my reflash before August 1st.
1: About 4500rpm or so.
2: Preload the clutch to avoid excess "dump shock"
3: Feather it as you let it out to keep wheel spin down.
4: Shift at the peak torque on the powerband to avoid over revving.

The shift light comes on before your near your rev limiter, the key is get between the light and bouncing ... AND get the notchy shifter in the gears

(car was a week old ) lol
Come out to Etown one night !.. we'll have a mini meet

Bone stock? Damn, that is nice sir indeed.
Is that a normal 1/4 run for the Si? I thought it was a little less, but nice work either way.

Question.... my friend has a TC that runs 14.9 with a I/H/E... now thats not really too impressive but he took me for a ride in it and Damn he's a great driver. He powershifts and chirps 2nd and 3rd easily. He told me that powershifting is a MUST when going to the track. I'm new to the whole powershifting concept so I need some advice on it. In my practice, I usually leave my foot on the gas and shift at about 7200, then the revs go to redline and the next gear catches. Is this good or bad? If I were a good shifter then could I do powershifts at 8 grand?? It seems that whenever I powershift, the revs shoot up at least 500 rpm, sometimes as much as 1000 if I do it too slow. Would powershifting at 7200 be better than normal shifting at redline? I must say that when I do powershifts, the car feels like it is going much faster and never hesitates, not even for the millisecond between gears. Any advice would be appreciated.

Careful. Here is more info about power shifting.
My question would is, how much powershifting can you do before you do major damage? And what upgrades (if any) should be added to prevent it?

I'm not sure how bad powershifting really is. Like I said, this guy drives his TC at the track and powershifts all the time. Its only got 15k miles on it, so who knows how long it'll last. However, his previous car was a 1998 Mustang GT, and he did the same in it. Powershifted, took it to the track every other weekend, etc. It has 140k miles on it and it just sits in his yard now that he has a TC. So, he hasn't blown up any motors/trannys/clutches despite all of his powershifting...
