replaced lower ball joints, need alignment?
i just replaced my lower ball joints. i recently got an alignment in may because i installed new suspension. do i need another one?
youll be fine with just a balljoint replacement. as long as you didnt mess with the tie rod adjustment, which you should have needed to.
nope, i didnt mess with the tie rods besides unbolting them and letting them hang. somehow i either punctured the boot on one of my tierods or it just wore down after my long trip yesterday, and it leaked a small bit of grease. should i just replace the boot? i have a integra rack in my 92 civic that i got from a parts dealer on ebay.
i believe it has 130k miles on it and i doubt they were replaced before. they still seem good when i wiggle the wheel back in forth there is very mininal play. if i grab the tie rod and move it side to side , it moves but it's not loose or anything. should i replace the tie rods? i heard you can count threads and get them just right. im also thinking of replacing my upper control arms because my upper ball joints look worn. the boot is not ripped, but they look kinda smashed. how should they look? do i need an alignment after replace the UCA?

replace the boot, its cheap.
once you take off the tie rod, you have to get an alignment. counting number of turns doesnt work, gets you close at best, but not enough to save your tires.
there should be NO play in balljoints. "minimal" play is TOO MUCH play.

there isn't any play in the lowers because i just replace them. i dont know how to check the uppers, they just look kinda smashed but the boot is fine, just worn. how do i check my outer tie rods to see if i need new ones anyway? the rack has 130k miles and i assume they are original. im thinking of just getting new inner and outer tie rods and new upper control arms because i need to get another alignment after i replace my RTA bushings.
the wheel doesn't have any play in the outer tire rods when i shake it. it has very very slight play that i believe is coming from the inners. how should the easily should the outer tie rods side to side when i just grab and turn it?
how do i check the upper ball joints?
my tie rods i believe are originals with 130k miles and my upper arms are the orignals with 180k miles on them. im just trying to find out if i should go ahead and shell out the money for new upper arms and inner and outer tie rods since im going to be getting new rear trailing arm bushings which require an alignment. i just got an alignment in may when i got new tires,struts/springs, and steering rack, so i don't want to have to get another one after this.
