So lately my exhaust had seemed to take a bit of change in tone. Today while I had the car jacked up I realized it was rusted through where the pipe comes to the muffler. Now my question is if I bought the universal NA muffler (it's currently the full cat back), is that an axleback or just the muffler and I'd have to get piping welded for that small section?

Yea I hadn't thought about just having a muffler shop weld it. I'll check them out this week then.

Trust my words right now and just get rid of it. The N1 are apparently prone to doing that. I had one on my teg and it did that within in a year. That cannot be fixed. I contacted apex'i and in the end they basically told me that's normal wear and tear and said I was just trying to get a free exhaust from them when I emailed all the info on how much I paid for it and where I got it and they still told me no. But they did try too sell me another and I told them why would I buy another one to have them same problem down the road and be screwed twice. I but a Comptech and loved it ever since. I was actually undecisive between the two but ended up buying the N1. I should have trusted my gut instinct and just bought the Comptech from jump. Trust me change the system altogether. Plus living in ny I haven't been pulled over since switching. The Comptech is subtle and doesn't need a silencer. I got pulled over 3x with the N1 even with the silencer in.
Edit; I know you're on TI and been to the meets before check my post on TI......

I was considering just replacing it with a diff exhaust but don't have the money plus I love the sound of the N1 on my car. And it's not loud at all.
I might be selling my N/A N1 axleback since tomarrow i'm ordering the turbo N1 muffler and having an axleback portion made for it since I already have a custom b-pipe. I'm just not 100% sure if I want to get rid of it yet. I'll let you know if you're interested.

Yea I plan on keeping the piping if it can't be welded.

friend of mines n1 did the same thing. It cracks after it gets dented from you bottoming out, then rain just sits in the bottom... Then it just rusts from there.
Just ordered an es oval, hopefully it doesnt have any of these issues.

Yea I got that about a year ago when I used to be slammed. It's also partially my fault because I knew they were prone to do this and I was always too lazy to hit it with some wd40 every once and a while to clean up any rust that was there.

And to add to that, a huge contributor is that oil crap and sand they put down on the icey roads. that will eat through anything.
coming from a welder, i could fix that but i don't know how worth it it would be for you, cause it would likely happen again...you might just try to pick up another muffler and then have a muffler shop or welding shop weld it onto the old tubing.
