Default installed new chip, check enigne light on now?????? code 6 (ect) HELP!!

i got a new chip for my ecu cause the old one was screwing my car up.i got it from a booth at raceway park and he made it right on the spot. Before the new chip my car had no check engine lights on, it ran and idled rough, runs rich, but Vtech ran fine, that was with the first chip that i recieved installed in the ecu when i bought from a guy in japan(pr3 obd0).i only know what it says on the old chip and that is "redline 9500,vtech engauged 4400,i know nothing else about it.Now after the i installed the new chip, the car runs and idles smoother, doesn't seem to be running rich, but the Vtech only goes to 7000 then it redlines and the check engine light is on,ecu blinks 6 short times which is Engine coolent temp(ect sensor).the guy at the booth asked if it had any check engine lights before hand and i said no and he was kind of like huh,but when i told him he said well the chip is good that i gave, something is wrong with your car,he offered a refund and i didn't take it cause i want to figure out what this check engine light problem is and why redline is hitting at 7000,is his chip good and there is a problem with my car? Can any one help me with this ?

Do you have a stock ecu? Here is what I'll do if I was in you shoes, install a stock ecu and see if your still getting a code 6. If not, problem solved. If you do have a code 6, check and see if your ect is hooked up. If you get your ecu chipped, your gonna have to expect some changes depending on that program. I have a chipped pw0 and it doesn't have a rev limiter, the fuel curve is more aggressive. So it just depends on what program you get.

After reading up on the various OBD0 chips/programs out there it seems that most of them disable many of the sensors like vtec oil pressure, knock sensor, redline etc. Perhaps the old chip was masking the problem and the new chip uncovered it? ECT's are sensitive but they are also easy to change. However, I read that a bad one can throw off your fuel mixture. Probably worth changing anyway.
