which ground-control kit?
Hey guys - I just recently bought a GC coil-over kit from a buddy of mine for my '96 GSR. I didn't realize until after i bought them that theres a few different kinds of kits. I was planning on running Koni yellows for an autox set-up but now im not sure if these are the right springs. I would ask my buddy i got them from but they were on the car when he bought it.
2 of them say 62645 GC180.64.44
and the other 2 say 61301 GC 200.64.67
Any help would be appreciated - thanks

Since you have them, throw them on. The Koni yellows are about the best shocks you can get, according to most people (and I just threw some on my car yesterday). It should be apparent which springs go on the front and which go on the rear. The stiffer ones go on the front. The ones labeled 200 are probably somewhere around 400lb/inch, and the ones labeled 180 are less.

whoah. totally ignore what he just said.
first of all, the spring numbers dont determine if they are for koni's or not. you have to specifically order the kit for konis because the difference is in the threaded sleeve/perch. (the red and gold things) you can use any spring you want, which is what those numbers mean.
and to read those numbers, you have to convert it the right way.
How do I tell what my spring rates are?
Ground Control sells Eibach Race Springs (ERS) which are labelled by 3 different values in the following convention: length . diameter . spring rate. However, ERS will come labelled in either Metric (mm.mm.N/m) or English (inchx100.inchx100.lbs/inch) units. 180.64.61 is the same thing as 700.250.350. The conversion from Metric to English is (/.254, /.254, x5.7) "/" means "divide by", "x" means "multiply by".
the 67 = 380 lbs/inch 8", 44 = 250 lbs/inch 7".
you should use the 250's in the rear.

Yah, i understand theres a special sleeve/perch but on the GC website they have a few separate kits, and one kit says it doesn't fit konis, but another kit says it will. I just want to make sure if i spend $500+ on Koni's - they'll work.

Thats what they look like(different numbers). As is, will they work with koni yellows?

like i said, it doesnt matter about the damn springs as long as its 2.5" ID.
that sleeve you have pictured is not the koni sleeve. the koni sleeves fit tightly around the shock body so are thinner diameter.

GC sells the Koni shock adaptors for the standard style kit, but you also must purchase different sleeves too. In that case, you will re-use the old gold spring perch. Or for a little more money, you can purchase the set of smaller diameter Koni sleeves (baby tubes), and their matching nuts (baby nuts). I can say from experience, the Koni baby-tubes are much nicer because they fit the shock body perfectly & the springs can't rub the threaded sleeve like on the standard kit...
