Default New Oddessy Nav/DVD hack?

My cousin just purchased the new oddessy and I was curious if anyone knew any hacks for the Navigation to double as a DVD player. Thanks!

Expensive, but worth it if you're trying to keep things "factory" imo

Yeah, something similar to that link but there's nothing as for wiring I can do for them? Just curious because I know with the factory Nav on my Lexus, you can convert it to play DVDs too.

Hack= I going to break something and I am going to have to pay twice. For the soundgate to work you will have to have navi. Its not going to work if you hack it. do it right the first time or you will be making anothor post on how to fix my radio. b18 is a good guy. just gets a lil frustrated when people want to do things backward when they are told how to do it right.

Fcm-I still love thoses, lol,lol

Im basically the same way, heck any of us who are affliated with the mobile electronics industry...We see the running changes that happen almost monthly with the automakers-the consumer doesn't. The average consumer doesn't understand concepts like DATABUS,CANBUS,MOST,Multiplexing, etc and how they intergrate in the car. They only see the $$$$ for a harness to hook that new cd player they just bought. I really can't blame them

Ahh the joys of progress

Maybe you guys took the word "hack" a little too literally. I'm looking for a way to make the Navigation screen double as DVD player screen. The reason why i'm asking is because I know on my IS300, you're able to do so without buying an extra input. I don't understand how wanting to convert your Nav screen into a DVD screen is working backwards in anyway.

Def of "hack" courtesy of Dictionary.com : To write or refine computer programs skillfully...

Thanks FCM for the only post that is actually useful...

The def of "hack" to us installers. Courtesy of all that put their daily lives in to it.: to try to install something with out the propper tools or equipment. To take a good install and fubar it-F-it up beyond all repair. To try to do something with no knowledge. To take 5 parts off one car to make it work on something else-tweaking. Not to listen to people that go thru this everday and see other people that waste money by not heeding words of wisdom that are given to them free of charge and to go and do the same deed over. To install something and beleive that since it worked in one car it will work in a another.

fcm-Would hack be a verb, pro-verb, adj, or noun. Please post a second great post to this thread.

lol

If you can't afford to do it right ,don't do it at all. I feel you. It cost to be the boss. Car audio is not a cheap sport. If i was not a vendor I would spend all my money on it. Hell I not suppose to use anything that I buy legally. For real. State board rules. You should see how many noobs call me and im me because they f-uped some ****. To the op, there is no cheap way out on what you are trying to do.

I install alarms for work so I know what you mean when something was "hacked". I deal with it on a daily basis.

As for the thread, I was simply looking for a way to make the Nav have a second purpose. I never once said I was looking for a cheap way, just seeing what the options were as to doing so.

Of course this being honda-tech, a lot of people put useless posts just to bump up their post count... if not a useless opinion.

np, I will keep it real with you. as long as keeping doesn't go wrong-dave chappel, lol.

If you lurk around the net you can find what you are looking for but be carefull. You get what you pay for. The soundgate is the best one out there.

</TD></TR></TABLE> As with anything, nothing is impossible, the impossible takeslonger and costs more

You want to get audio and video into the stock system, that requires an audio/video switcher, and yes you can build your own and "hack" it into the oem system, the cost of doing so, [DIY] may well be less, maybe, [in part costs] then just buying the right part, however time is also money, [what are you worth an hour] you will also need to know what wiring to "hack" into to install your homemade switcher, that should not be too hard to get, wiring schematics for just about anything can be purchased online from more then a few places, I'm sure.
Think about this, do you have warranty on your "new" Oddessy's audio/nav system?
What do you think Honda will say if you bring it in with a problem?
I would be willing to bet that any one of the components of the oem audio/nav system far exceed the price of the Soundgate switcher. 94
