Default 01 Mod Advice Needed..

I Hate asking Newbie questions like this, but I just bought a 01 Accord sedan with a 4 cyl auto. Not my favorite combo, but the car is perfect, has 18k on it, and the price was right. Anyway i bought the car to replace my Mustang as a Daily driver. Much to my annoyace the car is rather slow, and handles rather poorly. I probably cant do much about the handling for cheap, but is there much i can do about power. I am Honestly Mainly concerned with economy, but picking up a few Hp, and maybea few MPG would be nice. I Have the Turbocharged Foxbody for fun, so i dont really need to make this car a rocket.... I Dumped in some Syntec and a Good filter and brought my milage up to 31mpg. Would it be worth it to invest in a K&n drop in, or would i be better off with a whole Ebay Intake? I just wanna pick up a little passing power, and maybe another MPG or so, so all advice is appricated.

PS.. anyone got any 01 4lug wheels they want to unload?.. I HATE these hubcaps..

actually you got it wrong. it will be cheaper to make it handle better then to make it faster . for intake, a ebay tube+quality filter(K&N, injen, AEM, etc.) will do. you can get a cat-back exhaust and header but that will just give you more sound then power.

best thing you can do is invest in a good spring+damper combo and lightweight wheels+sticky tires.

It appears this may be opposite of the mustang then, Making power in the mustang is relitively easy, especially with the turbo, but its all the suspension parts that are expensive. Ill keep my eyes open for some Ebay intakes, Any your reccommend, or any i should avoid? Ill also look into some suspension, I love a car with good handling. I really need to ditch these steel wheels and factory tires first...

i have an ebay intake i think it cost me 30 bucks shipped with a filter but the filter it comes with is doo-doo. Go with a K&N filter and it will be good. My friends mess with me all the time cause i have the ebay intake on my 01 4dr lx cause it sounds nasty as hell and i felt lots of gains from it but i get pooped all over by my friends stage 2 rex.

Yes the Accord is totally opposite. Bolt on gains from a Mustang is soo much better than a 4banger auto Accord.

Dont bother on trying to make it fast if you dont want to unload a big load of cash. Its simply not worth it. Id say just get a nice suspension and have fun with it. Money spent and HP gain ratio is horrid on these cars. Its even worse on the V6 models.

yup...just use your accord for its best at. a reliable, fairly fun to drive, gas saving, daily driver. you have your stang for when you want to go fast. a nice suspension set-up will make a huge improvement in your accord and make it a hell of alot funner to drive, and you can get a intake and exhasust too if you just want the vroom vroom sound lol
