Default where does the B18b stop revving

I just got a an Eg with an Ls swap in it, but the rev limiter was removed, I was wondering what rpm is dangerous to rev my motor?

Ouch, i was taking it to 7.5 to a little over 8, it hit a point where the engine sounded like it had v-tec, that was when it went to 8.2.

may want to get that motor checked out now...Id be hard pressed to believe a b18b went to 8.2k with no valvetrain damage

ive mis-shifted twice on a ls and sent it to 8k and no problems, but constant abuse i would say there is some damage on both ends of the engine.

i had a friend with a d15b that was beat on....it to had no noise, no smoke, and no power loss and it blew without a sign. just because there is no noise it doesnt mean there isn't fatigue

Does it have a vtec head swap? That would explain it reving to 8.2k and sounding like it had vtec..

If not, yeah, I would never rev it that high again and pray you didn't break anything expensive

I would do a compression and leak down test just to check everything out.

I second that one.

You might have done something and not noticed.

I got a Free H23 once when I was building my H22 for my prelude, so we put the motor in and ran a chipped P75 and rev it to 8,000 constantly i would say like 5 to 6 times a week, by the time I pulled it out and did a compression check, #1 = 135, #2=140, #3=195, #4 =120... it was fun hehehe..

Keep it under 7000 RPM. The b18b redline is either 6800 or 6900 but just under 7000
