Default whats the little thingy on some roofs?

i've noticed that sqaure little thingy on the back of some civics and i was just wondering what it was? if its for navigation are you able to put it on if you go with a navi upgrade from just the factory stereo?

yeah thats it. is it a MUST for navi? and if so can you add it later?

i thought it comes on all cars because its for the radio? but im not sure. but if you dont have navi now, youll never be able to get the factory navi kit...at least i dont believe honda sells it...if you get an aftermarket navi kit and it needed one, it would come with it.

I think its retarded, because as far as i know, if you get the xm installed later, its antenna is hidden on your dash.... why didnt they just do that to begin with.

XM Requires a satelite link so it needs an external antenna of some sort. Most kits come with an external antenna unless you have a unit with an antenna built in and have it located under your window, then it might work.
