why i HATE working on my car!
It seems that whenever i work on my car, i spend more time trying to figure out how to remove rusted / rust-welded on nuts and bolts than anything else. i just spent the entire morning trying to remove the bolts that attach the muffler to the pipe, and then trying to remove the O2 sensor. every time i look at my car, the hardware seems to rust before my eyes. this makes working on my car a never ending battle against the evil forces of nature and chemistry, and against a wall of personal frustration. can it be that ahrd to find hardware the won't rust itself into new, hitherto unknown materials that the DOD would love to make tanks out of? should i only be playing with a one-color rubik's cube? do others feel the same sense of frustration when a 1 hour job turns into a multi day ordeal of broken hardware, tools, late night trips to out of the way hardware stores in a vain attempt to get a bolt or nut to do its job? i am pretty much ready to quit the once-upon-a-time fun hobby and just buy a new car and let the dealer take care of all the pain and build balsa wood gliders. at least they don't rust, and the tools for working with them can be as simple as my fingernail.
p.s. i now have the O2 sensor (with 3 nicely rounded sides) soaking in WD40 in the hopes that i can get it off. i have been trying to reattach the old exhaust system so that i can go and pass emissions. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

bolts that dont even resemble a bolt; and are now just a randomly shaped blob of rust ftw.

if im using a wrench most of the time i got 5 cans of pbr and a rubber mallet in hand to help. ahaha i was doing front rotors and pads on my 91 da, looks like they have been done for about a decade almost.....anywhoo im having to drill out the two hub screws on my driver side because there so rusted in and i stripped the heads. it also took me like 102348723905783490 hours to get the caliper bolts off. god i hate rust. faux that ****

What usually happens to me is i'm missing the correct tool, so I end up trying to screw around with the wrong tool and it just makes everything so much harder. During a 2-day lengthy drama of projects that included a headgasket, timing belt, and some axles, (nothing that should be that difficult) finally I got fed up with the tool fiasco after my 15th trip to the auto parts store, and said if I don't have the right tools I'll just forget it and buy a different car. Grabbed the credit card, bought myself a good compressor, set of air tools, an decent impact wrench, a 2-ft breaker bar, and a load of misc tools I'd been missing. No more problems getting bolts off anymore, and the days of letting them soak in PB Blaster are over. I've worked on some rusted exhausts and the impact will either drive the bolt right out or break it off. No more trying to stick a screwdriver in the flywheel while I use the breaker bar to loosen the crank pulley, or spraying axle /exhaust nuts, impact does it all.
So now I have $700 in tools out on the VISA, but it was well worth it

when i i have to work on a part of my car that is rusted and seized up, i will blast it with pb blaster the night before and let it soak. then hit it again in the morning. works every time. breaker bar is your friend too

see, all i wanna do is put the stock exhaust abck on. oh, and as an added bonus, i found the hole in my muffler that yes, more rust, caused!! yay!! more money spent for the privilige of living in the midwest
as you can see, i cannot get the O2 sensor off, and as it is made of low grade recled shasta cola cans, the edges round off perfectly when any pressure is applied by a wrench. this is in accordance with EPA section 21-3(a)D(1)*3 that states that any emissions device must be installed and manufactured in such a way that attempted removal of said part destroys the part and the part it is attached to. bravo honda on epa compliance!! w00t also, see the additional hardware i have soaking in WD40, as when it came off, the cacophony of shrieking metal would leave AC/DC fans reliving times of yore when they actually ahd hearing. needless to say, this ~1.5 hour project will now probably take me more than a week as now i need to find an O2 sensor somewhere, buy it, and get it shipped to me. werd!
