Default engine swap without transmission?

ok, im haveing a tought time finding a good guide to this (performed several searches and looked throug at least 31 posts)if one even exists and if it is even possible. I have a 92 prelude manual trans with f22a in it. The engine is bad and needs several things done to it that i don't even want to think about how much it would cost. Luckily for me, a friend of mine did a swap to a h22 on his and his f22 was working great before he removed it and he has told me that i can have it and he will help me swap it in. The downside is his f22 has an auto trans on it. So what i was wondering is:
1. Is it possible to swap the engine out without removing the trany from the car(swaping only the engine)
2. if so does anyone know of a write up for it?
3. would it be worth my time or should i just save my money up for a new engine/rebuild the one i have.
It isn't my daily driver, its just something im fixing up. right now im working mainly on the body and was hoping for a cheap fix for the engine untill the exterior is done (so i can get it to and from the shop without a tow truck). any and all help is very much apreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you unmount the tranny from the engine then it will be virtually hanging on one mount. But you can't unbolt the tranny without unbolting this mount, so anyway you have to remove the tranny and the engine. And it's easier to pull'em together. And removing tranny itself from the engine bay is a major PITA because of lack of space.

I just swapped transmissions yesterday (still have work to do) but unless you put a notch in teh crossmember, it's a pain in the ***. that 3/4" i got made all the difference. just drop out you motor/trans and then bolt your manual tranny to the motor. notch your crossmember and you shoudl have a pretty easy time getting that ****** in. if you want pics of where i notched, just let me know

+1000 to that. Last time I did a clutch change, I just dropped the tranny. Took me longer then it would have if I just dropped the entire motor/trans together. Not to mention putting the tranny back is not fun either. I pulled my entire motor out like 2 weeks ago in 7 hours while it took me 3 days for the entire clutch change .

if its an auto you can pull just the engine out, but if its a manual, the input shaft on the tranny would be too long, and therefore you have to pull the motor and tranny combo out together.
