Default Looking to buy a '92 integra

Hi,

I'm a noob just asking for some info. I'm looking to buy a '92 teg LS 5-spd. I haven't seen it in person yet, but the pics seem to be ok. I'm trying to arange a date for me to see and inspect the car in person.

I'm new to the honda game. I've owned 2 nissans and always wanted to dip into the honda scene. After working at honda for 2 years I think its time, heh.

Just a few questions and other concerns for now, hopefully I won't get bashed, lol

First off is there anything I should specifically look for when looking at this particular model, i.e common problems with the car(example: the old school se-r's had trans problems with 5th gear popping out). Are there any places I should look for rust build up, somewhere common, if any? I just really want to know what I should look for, keep an eye out for, and possible ask the owner of the car if anything should be broght to my attention.

Thanks in advance,
larry

I don't know much about DA's, but to cover your *** in the future make sure the VIN on the dash, fire wall and motor are the same. As far as rust goes, it's pretty much the same on every car, main area to look for it in is the fender wells. Hope your buying experience is a good one

Suspension travel is limited on the DA's compared to other models. The DA also doesn't have quite as much support as other cars, but has come a long way. The fans go bad often...I've been through 3. Check your tie rods, these fail on higher mileage cars as well as lowered ones. Check out http://www.g2ic.com to get all the nitty gritty details.

The car, as far as I know, is completely stock with approx 180,xxx miles. A carfax report is definately #1 on my to do list when ever I can get a chance to take a look at the car in person.

Thanks for all of the help so far guys.

Mark sure the timing belt has been done at least once, or twice withe that many miles. I am sure they have had to replace the radiator allready, same with the distrubitor.

Check the carfax and also ask for any service records.

i had a 92 gs for over 2.5 years, i ******* loved the car. the only thing that ever went wrong, besides one warped rotor and a main relay, was something that resulted from my cheapness/stupidity. the way i drive, i got 30 mpg city, and the car was very fun to drive. they handle pretty good. good luck with your DA

Yea, I'm in the slow rolling passenger window club...

Check for rust on the back of the roof right in front of the hatch in the grooves. Mine has rust right after the roof trim ends.

I have to double clutch 3rd and 4th gear...

All accesories work (sunroof etc.) so I think those components are strongly built.

Everything else is good Good Luck!
